For Tests they can gamble with Thakur as he took a hatrick recently with 3 very good deliveries. He should be our best swing option. His batting is a huge plus for us.

Do not think there was much to it, played just 2 games bowled some 5-6 overs because of various reasons.

looked bit of out of shape, bowled around ~135 kmph. He just kind of came and rolled his arms a bit.  complete waste of 5 matches should have played 4 matches atleast.

They are Ying and yang. Like wasim and Waqar. Shami is like waqar- will take more wickets but also will get clobbered more.

He absolutely won’t be a fit for the longer format anymore. He's not some 25 year old. He’s had chronic knee issues for a long long time now, and has got much worse lately.

If anything, shorter format is where he can still have somewhat of a career. 
 

He was mainly averaging 135 or less in the T20 format. The odd couple of balls at 140 don’t reveal anything. I’d look past him and groom guys like Mayank (when fit), Umran, Harshit, any new upcoming fast bowler.

 

Are the selectors, captain and coach delusional?

Looks like a part time medium pacer at best.  Even pandya (who has conceded 8.5 rpo) in this series has looked more effective than him.

Not sure why Shami made a comeback to the side if he was going to trundle at 125-135. LOL.  I think he should leave this team and hv fun outside.

Shami looks like Rohit sharma. His fitness has gone for a toss. His run up reminds me of bowlers that bowl in legend league. I don't know who certified him as fit.  Arshdeep singh should replace Shami.  If India wants Shami to play Tests he should be released. We have a lot of options to try in shorter formats. We needed him in world cup. He did his job fabulously. Now time to move on.

I think Shami's done and it's time to play Arshdeep against NZ. Or a left field option is to go with Varun in place of Shami and let Varun open the bowling with Harshit.

 

Given we're gonna play SENA teams in knockouts, it's not a bad option to go with spin heavy attack.

2023 WC Shami was totally different league. He looks done although he picked up 5fer against Bangladesh. 6 bowling options can mask unfit Shami but doesn't look like at his best.

Shami fluked a 5fer but he is clearly not fit enough for international cricket at the moment. He definitely shouldn't be bowling in the death overs like Rohit was asking him to do. Even at his best he was unlikely to make much of an impact in Dubai and India have been lucky they have played two mediocre sides where Shami was not exposed. Time to bring in a younger guy ( Arshdeep maybe) who will at least learn and develop his game.

Go with Arshdeep. Solid at death, can get PP swing. Can also tonk a few.

Technically, we never won a title with Shami in the squad. Kind of like KL Rahul.

but then we had never won with hardik, bumrah etc till last year too.

naah was merely ok. Bangladeshs played bad shots.

 

SENA would smack him about.

Might be match rusty Arshdeep doesn't have skill on these flat pitches if he could not take wickets in upfront he will get cleaners
