T20 xi:Conundrum..How to balance Bowling Penetration with Batting Depth!

atleast he has some potential with bat..but remains to be seen..if he will be told to apply himself or gets more maturity and confidence..the more he plays..

He does.
Remember how Ashwin used to bat when he started playing for India, was extremely casual and used to get out cheaply. He came on his own with bat once he grew more confident.
Harshit, Yudhvir, Gurnoor all have potential with bat.

Ashwin played ODI's first when he started playing.

He was always casual in ODIs. Scored one 50 entire career.

Harshit if can become even Cummins level with the bat will give immense depth batting at 9.

 

One more important player is NKR. If he can improve his bowling a bit, can be a 10-12 year gun player and give incredible balance.

5 Players improving further can make India a Great T20 side in future -

1. Riyan Parag - Improve spin bowling so that he can be bowl 2-3 overs every match + bats with better run scoring. I think his bowling in T20 is under appreciated. 

2. Abhishek Sharma- Improves consistency in run scoring further and bowls 1-2 overs in each match when required. 

 

This would help in excluding Axar  

3. Jaiswal - Starts keeping wickets .

  This will solve WK problem and india will have GOAT WK for  8-10 years in T20 like Buttler. 

   Will replace Samson. 

4. Ravi Bishnoi-  Can be very good defensive bowler in T20 if he can bowl the one which holds its line or move away from RH bats with good change of pace and overspin in addition to fast googlies.

We cannot expect him to bowl genuine leg break with his action but he can develop skills mentioned above. He should work under ASH for sometime . ASH should be bowling coach for indian team for spin bowlers.

Since our batting is deep ,one can expect 200+ runs most of the times and role of a good defensive bowler is critical in  increasing the required RR and put pressure to induce wrong shots from batters.  

Can replace Varun in future.

5. NKR - Improves bowling to ensure we have replacement for Hardik when needed.

 

If india has 3 genuine bowlers of quality like Boom, Arsh , Varun/Bishnoi  and (8 top class batters- Abhi, Jaiswal, Tilak, SKY, Riyan,Rinku,NKR, Pandya)  

we can win most of the matches . Just need to trust their ability. 

 

Eventually we should aspire to have 4 genuine bowlers of quality like Boom, Arsh , Varun & Bishnoi  and 7  top Gun T20 batters- Abhi, Jaiswal, Tilak, SKY, Riyan,NKR, Pandya )   

Excluding young pacers for the time being due to history of injuries .

I would like 4 penetrative bowlers but then we are left with no batting after 7.. it will take away some freedom from our batters..

 

I see this bowling line up in future..assuming injury free and getting some more maturity for young guys...

 

Boom, Harshit(no mug with the bat),Varun, 1 out of(Bishnoi\Arsh\Mayank) based on conditions,Riyan Parag(Could be penetrative if he develops carrom bowl etc),Pandya and or NKR

 

This gives us penetrative bowling line up along with some batting at 8(Harshit)..
