But Jaiswal is not in the squad. He is meant to be a non-travelling reserve which means he will come in only as an injury replacement

I thought he's the standby and can be pulled in. If Rohit's not fit, let's bring in Jaiswal to replace Rohit as there're only 2 games to go - not really counting NZ as it's a practice game . It's not as if we've 6 matches remaining and Rohit can come back. Replace Rohit with Jaiswal in the squad and get him to open.

 

No point in being idiotic like Pak who replaced their openers with Babar and Saud We've a golden opportunity to win as conditions are in our favor and let's not screw it up due to poor team selection. Gotta be a bit more ruthless and play the best team and players who're fit.

We need to go with spinners to target Head. If we go with a half fit Shami, Arshdeep or Harshit, we're done. Head will finish the game in PP overs itself. Let's open with Varun C to target Short and Head. We don't want them to get off to a flier.

Nope, he can be brought in to replace any player. This is what Pak did when they brought in Imam to replace Saim and Fakhar even though they had Usman Khan and others on the bench.

 

Reserve players can replace any injured player if you want to do so. It's up to Rohit and Indian team management if they want to do so but knowing Rohit he's unlikely to do so.

the whole "12 saal mein toh chalta hai" still rankles me. To me the loss to NZ was the breaking point and Rohit should've been dumped then and there. Being white-washed at home to a mediocre NZ team and not even feeling remorse or a hint of sadness was simply way over the line.

 

And then he saunters in for BGT disrupting a settled team and destroyed the team chemistry. Bumrah deserved to captain the whole series after the 1st Test. And cherry on the top was Rohit mishandling Bumrah and bowling him into the ground while saying "we're monitoring his workload". He deserved for captaincy to be taken away in Aus itself if you still wanted to give him a shot after NZ series.

Agreed.  On paper they are easiest Semi final opponent but their big match temperament worries me.
