That's true actually, they might have beaten BD and kept their Semi final chances and viewers interest alive till the last game with this schedule.

No but they wanted to emulate India by playing the toughest opponent first like we did in the WC2023 by playing against Australia.

Their pea brains couldn't comprehend the fact that these two are different tournaments with different formats.

ICC planned it in such a way that Gora teams didn't have to do back n forth between Pak and Dubai. So NZ is last to play us in the league stage.

Edit: wait scratch that. Looks like NZ will have to travel back to Pak for the SF lol. Even Aus/SA/Eng have to do back n forth if they beat us in the SF in Dubai. :giggle:

Pakistan is run by scoundrels of the highest order. They have bet all their stolen dollars on cricket to keep the awam happy and deluded. Their PM cried out loudly how they will defeat India as that would have been enough to create some distraction from their disaster of government. Nice to see egg on their faces

England eliminated, SA qualify for the semis. Match between Afghanistan and Australia to be a knock out.

How did SA qualify? They can lose badly to Eng affecting their NRR

They will automatically qualify if Aus beats Afg on Fri. Then NRR will not be in the picture.

yes but they havent qualified yet as the poster was saying

1) Afghanistan has to win, otherwise SA are through

2) SA's NRR is the best, really, really ahead of everyone else. So only scenario they go below Aus current run rate is if they lose by over 100 runs. But Aus losing to Afghan will also lower Aus run rate further.

that's still possible. SA haven't qualified yet.

I was thinking Aus is a 2.1 NRR. It is SA. On paper they haven't qualified, but practically SA losing in a such a big manner is not possible. In fact, they will even beat Eng to top the table and play India in the semis (as India will lose on Sun).

Heavy rain in lahore predicted friday. So Afghanistan is out as their NRR is low

Maybe it ends up being a shortened game of 20 overs. That will be interesting.

Battle of the biggest loser coming up today. Will it be BD or PAK, I don't feel confident to bet my money on who will be the biggest loser in this tournament. Could go either way

It's gonna be rained out. But no matter what the biggest loser has to be Pakistan. They hosted their first ICC tourney after 3 decades and got booted out within 3 days losing both their matches, and booted out by their arch-rivals while their PM was begging their team to beat India

Rameej Raza said in an interview yesterday that the CT fixture for the host team (Pak) has been scheduled in an unfair manner.  According to him, Pak should hv played BD in the 1st or 2nd game in order to boost their self confidence & that would hv pushed them to a SF spot.   :hysterical:

Thats what I like about CT, its a short tournament but every match is important and there is no time to relax for any team .

Doubt they do based on Aus-SA washout

it will be hard for afgn even with shortened match and wet-out field , their spinner will not have much impact  and due to heavy out field driver will not go for 4s.

plus sa will be better off in overcast condition with better fast bowlers and batters able to play moving ball and able to hit 6s to counter heavy outfield.

They play Aus and Aus has a newish pace attack. And if the pitch is holding up, Afg spinners can trouble them. They need to get Head early and the pressure will be on Aus. And in a shortened game, Afg batters only need to score quick 20s, 30s or 40s which they're more than capable of.
