Can't help compare him with Ajantha Mendis who didn't overly turn yet kept beating the batsmen.

think he was playing along side murli who is hard to score and pure wkt taker and then if batter needs to score of a v.new kind of bowling mystery spin that would be hard to pick and score off.

He is more like rashid khan who hurries the batsman but an off spinner

For him to play every format the template is Theekshana who is similar type of bowler. Needs good stock ball and habit of bowling lot of overs. Need different mentality for 10 over bowling compared to 4 overs where batsman is always on the charge.

Heard he worked a lot on his line and length for this comeback.. that helps a lot for longevity..if you get a good control over  it and makes mystery more effective

Hes decent but he needs to be really really good to overcome the shortcomings with the bat and in the field. Or he will be phased out soon. He won't get a long rope thats for sure.

Rohit after so many inept captaincy moves in 2023 world cup finally used Varun better. He used him as a strike bowler alongwith Kuldeep. ON the other end Jadeja/Axar were used for run containing.

Yes. That trend continued. He is definitely not an attacking captain. I have never seen him do that. He relies on magic from bowlers.

And for that reason he shouldn't captain in Tests.

We need a new captain there. Hopefully Bumrah stays fit.

For that same reason Gambhir should not coaching Test cricket. His teams have looked lost in test cricket bereft of any plan.

Even yesterday Rohit was just waiting out when they were building that partnership that too after quick wickets.

Look at how NZ rallied to fight yesterday, do you think at 105/0 Indian bowling and  Rohit was taking NZ to 49th over.

But like saying goes, it is better to be lucky captain than being good captain.

If these two play next year's WT20 and we don't make bone-headed selections by playing likes of Gill and Ruturaj, we should be favorites to win the tourney for a hattrick of ICC tourneys
