putrevus Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 (edited) in 1980s 180-200 was good score. Was it due to great bowling, answer is no it is general mindset of batsman.Guys like Richards were scoring over 90 SR in 1980s too .Kapil has 95 SR. Great Bowling was not the reason for lower SR for guy batsman like Gavaskar rather it was their inability to score at fast SR. Steve Waugh falls under same category. No amount of window dressing will turn Steve waugh into decent odi batsman. Even Gavaskar scored his only odi 100 in 80 odd deliveries, does it make him good odi batsman. Rohit always had an air of elegance. No question about that. Kohli was also good when he was in form. Now he is searching the ball by playing too much on the frontfoot. he can search all he wants.., only thing he will do is nick to bast bowlers or get lbw/ bowled to spinners
vvvslaxman Posted March 11, 2025 Posted March 11, 2025 Kohli should silently move to England. Only reason these guys stick around because this is the only format which will keep them relevant for a while. Both done in Tests. T20 retired. If they quit that is like quitting international cricket. So they will try to prolong as much as possible even though it is not necessary. But selectors have to do their job regardless what these guys want to do.

With all due respect to Dinda, he was never intl quality. i agree to your point partially. there was some 8 months to 10 months when thif guy was bowling 140 + and he troubled ganguly and many IPL batsmen. i saw him hitting few batsman on hands and shoulders too. I agree he slowed down to under 140K and then under 137k. he used to get domestic wickets in bundles. he definitely had some skills and he was definitely better than VINAY KUMAR. having said that i agree dinda was most of the time under 137k and not INtl quality. here i was saying ROHIT killed him IPL career and any chances that he had to bounce into INTL circuit.

He needs a strong lobby or PR group. Even Mumbai lobby doesn't seem to support him and Sarfu, maybe bevause they are originally from UP and of humble origins. Also if you notice, Mumbai lobby has a Brahmin bias. Nikhil_cric and raki05 1 1

putrevus Posted March 12, 2025 Posted March 12, 2025 Like I said many times, Jaiswal needs to worry about getting place in t20 team before worrying about 2027 world cup. t20 world cup is in 2026.

Especially since we're seeing Rachin take the ODI format by storm and Jaiswal simply cooling his heels waiting for his chance despite being better than Rachin and ODI being the ideal format for him. India is acting like B'desh or Pak with these "plans" for Rohit as if we don't have any players in the pipeline. I guess they know now that superstar culture is on a decline...hence trying to milk away the existing ones as long as they can. Rohit & Kohli if they don't retire will pick themselves automatically. That leaves with straight shootout between Gill vs Jaiswal..where Gill will be preferred coz he has more "experience" and is the "prince" in succession. Nikhil_cric and raki05 1 1

I am quite hopeful that Jaiswal will find a place as an opener. Given next T20 WC is in India where pitches will be flatter and India will stick to formula of bat aggressive and bat deep. Only missing piece is the keeper, Sanju maybe asked to bat lower or possibly one of Pant/KL may make a comeback as well. Tilak probably bat lower down the order.
