Sachin Dravid crawling partnership 2006 Cape Town test. If they had batted with some intention, we could have set a higher target and be the first subcontinent team to win a test series in South Africa.

https://www.espncricinfo.com/series/india-tour-of-south-africa-2006-07-249039/south-africa-vs-india-3rd-test-249217/full-scorecard

Dravid 47(134)

Sachin 14(62)

Painful :((

They were deadbatting Paul Harris on a flat wicket for no reason. We even had a healthy first innings lead but those two froze. Sachin had his struggles that time because of tennis elbow, and 2006 was his worst ever year in international cricket, and Dravid was poor in RSA/Aus against first choice bowling attacks.

Dhoni's dropped catch of Ross Taylor in 2019 SF flies under the radar. Taylor added 70 more runs from there on a tough pitch.

Pant dismissal in 21 WTC final, last day. Had he stayed there for another 30 minutes, it was a shared trophy.

A match lost at toss was 2003 WC final. Had we batted first, we may still have lost but at least we had a 20-30% chance, by fielding first it became impossible.

In between 1998 (desert storm) and 2007 bilateral ODI in Mumbai (Murali Karthik MOTM), we didn't beat Aussies even once while chasing. 1998 tri series at home with Zim, 1999 and 03 WCs, 2003 TVS series, VB series in Aus in 03-04 etc., not once while chasing !!!!!

Isse yaad aaya. Balaji giving a 6 to Brett Lee in a match we should have won in the vb series.

But the shot to me which still haunts is Virender Sehwag trying to hit a 6 on 195 at Melbourne. We collapsed after that and lost the test..also not to forget Parthivs drop of Waugh in Sydney. That series we should have won..

Parthiv also dropped 4-5 catches in Centurion (2017-18 series). Also horror keeping against England in 2016 home series, but we were too strong despite him.

I hate that guy.

Yeah I remember. Now thinking back in those days in absence of Saha we had DK and Parthiv who played two crucial away series in england and saf 2018. And we should have at least won the first match of both the series as we couldnt chase 180 /200 odd. Sam Curran and Philander screwed us.

DK is a headcase but at least gave us a series win in England in 2007. That DK was better than any version of Dhoni in test cricket, a pity he couldn't justify his potential; too fidgety and mentally weak.

4th test in syndey v. aus in 2003 was generally highly excruciating! series 1-1, all the on the line. we post 700 plus then run into gillespie rear guard and parthiv's dropped catches. could have been our best series win of all time, sydney 2008 was the angriest i've ever been

Also how the hell we lost the Galle test after having a 190 run lead. They were 21/7 literally till Chandimal played a blinder. Even in the recent test series against England the first test we had such a big lead..

No DRS. Chandimal was out LBW and bat pad 3-4 times, very frustrating knock.

I know not a pleasant subject to talk about. Just for fun.

I'll start with one

Tendulkar playing a rash shot when India needed 16 to win with 4 wickets in hand in Chennai Test. I know he was in pain. He had just hit saqlain for 4 consecutive fours.  Match was all but over. Then that happened. Rest is history.

Ya i wont blame him for that he had back ache…. Rohit threw his wkt in final due to his bad fitness , thanks to Axar and Iyer saving us there otherwise that would have been a disaster and thats what we would have called bad inning. Sachin pain was unbearable so he just kept hitting but thanks to our tailenders who couldn't score remaining 16 runs and surrendered like meek.

If we start listing every key dismissal, you'll end up with literally every match India ever lost. Over the last decade there're 5 matches/moments I wish we could have back:

1. 2023 WC Final - It was more the venue and pitch tampering. Wish we would've played the match at a traditional venue such as Eden Gardens instead of that panauti Modi "win the toss win the match" stadium.

2. 2021 WTC Final - Despite poor team selection of picking 2 spinners where conditions were overcast, rainy and gloomy, all we needed to do was bat some time on the last day. But as usual our batters froze. There wasn't even a target to chase. All we had to do was bat half a session more and we share the WTC trophy.

3. 2019 WC SF - Not able to chase 239 hurts no matter the conditions. And as usual we phucked it up with team selection (no Shami and playing mental midget Chahal),and the top order failing.

4. 2017 CT Final - Deciding to bowl first on a patta where there was no dew factor and knowing fully well Pak can't chase to save their lives screwed us big time. Plus not picking Umesh or Shami knowing fully well Pak can't play pace. This was a gimme and our decision making cost us the tourney.

5. 2024 BGT - Rohit coming in and phucking up the team. The moment Rohit joined the team turned the series around for Aussies. We've shown in the past we can carry at max one passenger in Tests (either Rohit or Kohli). But carrying both was too much. 11 vs 10 is still manageable. But 11 vs 9 was end of the series  for us.
