The guy had the reputation of being a no nonsense technocrat, who didn't curry favors with those in power. Someone beyond corruption.

 

Also, in one of my posts on this thread, in his book he laid down guidelines for future delimitations and voila his prediction of Thane splitting and the formation of Kolkatta Uttar came true. That is why his book came into prominence again.

The two aren't unrelated. We are speaking of the same thing. Kalyan has its own MP in the Lok Sabha today. Prior to 2008, there was one MP for Thane and Kalyan.

 

No, I am speaking about how UP gets 143 now as compared to how that 143 is distributed across different regions of UP.  I don't really care as to how it gets distributed within a state as long as that 143 is selected. I feel the initial distribution among states was not proportionate to begin with. 

 

I would be happier if UP gets paritioned into different states - Purvanchal, Awadh/Ganga ghat  and NCR/.Western UP. It is too huge to impact the Govt of India formation and also good for the respective under-developed regions of the state to be governed properly.
