If he continues to play the same way he's an option to be the wkt keeper and bat lower down the order. So the team could be something like this: Abhishek (bowls 2-3 overs) Jaiswal Tilak SKY/Iyer (prefer Iyer) Axar (bowls 2-3 overs) KL (wk) Pandya (bowls 2-3 overs) Rinku/Ashutosh/Aniket/Ramandeep/Parag (any in form hitter, or play an all-rounder who can bowl a couple of overs) Arshdeep (bowls 4 overs) Bumrah (bowls 4 overs) Varun C (bowls 4 overs) Squad: Samson (wk) Harshit (or any other in-form pacer) Kuldeep/Bishnoi Krunal Pandya (to play the Axar role) One of the hitters mentioned above for no. 7 or 8 spot nah don't infect the team with KL virus Ultimate_Game and Suhaan 1 1

Right now we have a fearless team why change it. Suhaan 1

Better wk keeper than Samson and if we want to play Jaiswal, we need a keeper down the order. He's the best followed by Jitesh. None of Samson, Jurel, Kishan, Pant etc. can bat lower down the order.

KKR released Starc and Iyer and retained Rinku and bought Venky at huge prices even though they were capped. GG went out of the way to keep Harshit uncapped before due date. In uncapped category you'll find such names. Anukul Roy,Tushar Deshpande,Arshad Khan etc were retained by MI,CSK,KKR in 2023 https://www.iplt20.com/news/3849/tata-ipl-2023-player-retentions-list

I'll not be convinced until he does it in tough situation where he has to do more than a support job. Jurel can bat down the order. Even Kishan can be told to bat at 5-6.

Jitesh and KL are the only two who have shown they have the game to bat lower down the order. Rest have struggled batting lower down.

And if they paid that much for Venky, they should've made him the captain instead of going after Rahane. I truly believe the mess KKR is in is due to forcing Rahane in the team. Rahane has pushed everyone down by a spot in the batting order and it has messed them up. If Rahane wasn't there, Venky would bat at 3 and play the same role he did last year. And it would bring rest of the batters up. Raghuvanshi can bat at 4, Rinku at 5, Russel at 6 and Ramandeep at 7. Even though Rahane scored a 50 in the opening match, in the longer run KKR would've been batter served in backing Venky and their original batting lineup. And ideally they should've backed Iyer if it was a toss up between Iyer and Venky. Could very well be that Iyer wasn't happy at KKR and wanted to leave no matter what similar to Pant's relationship with Delhi. Either way, KKR has done themselves no favors by bringing in Rahane and muddying waters. They gave Venky 27 cr. and then told him that we don't really trust you and need need to bring in a captain from outside (Rahane). That was a non-sensical move. Lord 1

Let's see what they do rest of the IPL and hopefully we'll have more data. But I find this new attacking approach of KL refreshing. Looks like he's going back to his pre-2018 T20 days. Lord 1

coffee_rules Posted April 1 Author Posted April 1 RCB is still +1 after 11 days. Must be a record of sorts. Stop IPL today and give the trophy to RCB cricketfan28 and Lord 2
diga Posted April 2 Posted April 2 Surprised that RCB doesnt have any consecutive home matches... how do they maintain the momentum?
coffee_rules Posted April 2 Author Posted April 2 DC and PBKS is playing their 3rd game with a 6 or 7 day gap, while some other teams will be at 4 games. What kind of 3rd world scheduling is this?
