As an IPL captain he can pass muster.

As a batter he has been found wanting time and again across formats since his return. Unfortunately his past exploits could end up as his careet highpoint unless he reinvents his batsmanship.

As a captain he takes far too many left field decisions and that too in unnecessary situations.

Indeed.

Still in the top 5, though that may change.

Some decisions stick. Some decisions don't . Markram for the first time in his career completed his quota of overs in a T20 match. That was a smart move as he didn't want leggie to bowl to Dube.

If there is a clause for that Maxwell owners  would have recovered a lot of money

Maxwell used to be among the most feared batsmen in whiteball cricket.  He has had a brand value over a considerable period (though now he is into decline.  Might play max 2 yrs of intl cricket).  Maxwell being overpriced is quite understandable & acceptable.  Same is not the case with fraud Pantatunga.  Pantatunga's peak NEVER arrived in T20 cricket.  Forget peak.  Even his mediocrity never arrived. He has always been below par in whiteball cricket (especially T20).  I don't see Pantatunga being paid anything above 5 CR in next IPL irrespective of which franchise he gets into.

This is getting very awkward. I am a Pant fan, been waiting to see a blazing knock or two from him this season but it's just not happening.

Most of us were rooting for him after his return. But sadly not working.  It is not like he was setting T20s ablaze before injury. He was always average in this format but for one IPL season.  Right now he should be considered only for Tests. Once he gains maturity and evolve in his batting approach he can come back. Right now even Jurel looks better than him.

At the moment Pant will make his team better by dropping himself. If LSG doesn't reach playoffs, it'll be due to Pant. They already have Pooran as a wkt-keeper batter so they don't really need Pant in the lineup.

Wonder if Goenka will drop Pant after this season and make Pooran captain.

Some team like CSK will buy Pant and continue to suffer

I know Pant is a bit limited in this format. Even by his own low standard this season was shockingly poor.  So many no name guys have done far better. I think one of the biggest issue with Pant is dot balls. 50% of the balsl he faced were dot balls.  That is the worst by country mile for a specialist batsman. Gill uses his soft hand pushes the ball into gaps runs for singles regularly. Pant is the poorest in this department as well.

Not sure if there is any point of discussing an establish Ind intnl player based up-on ipl performances.

He has played some 75+T20is has only 3 fifties with a SR of 127 and avg of 23. Do not think these are the numbers which deserve a place in intnl T20 set-up.

Pant here has good amount of support even for white-ball, not sure why ppl. are confusing his test batting with white-ball batting.

He has v.few to 0 shots in off-side, his power game is not elite level, can not do field manipulation. Not sure if those are enough evidences to tell he is not good for LOis.

He has no +ive match up against any kind of bowling he can nt take down leg-spin. for having near 0 off-side game he does not have a solid leg-side game to cover things up. He can not target leg-side like Dussen or Chapman who are v.solid leg-side players. When ever he will come he will halt the tempo building the pressure on himself and the other batters.

At one time ppl are telling rohit and kolhi must go because they are playing dated game for t20s where their t20i sr is near 140 and with good/decent avegs but guys like pant and gill are playing modern t20 game.
