And break free trade agreements which India is signing or attempting to sign. govt can encourage consumer behaviour, mandating a certain product will kill competition & is counter productive.

How will the ask to prioritize work . The consumer will go with the best available in spending capacity , not necessaril Made in India .

Goods for which a better alternate is available made in India, we should go for it.

For ex...classic case of Harley Davidson vs Bullet.

Buying an indigenous product is beneficial. But importing ban on everything foreign will push us towards isolation like North Korea. Letting the market dictate terms is the right approach.

It doesn’t ensure it, as I said it just encourages it.

you also pair it with other reforms which allows for Indian manufacturers to produce competitive products.

Furniture, knick knacks, accessories, construction stuff, etc - everything comes from China. On Diwali most of the lights, lamps, firecrackers, gifts are Chinese. Most of the plastic toys, chappals etc. comes from China. Pretty much everything one sees people selling on traffic signals and for cheap in the markets all is Chinese. Fast food, colas etc. are all US franchises. Most people buy high end clothes etc from US/European branded stores. Most of the entertainment of course comes from Europe/US , as do the services we pay for and use from Visa/Mastercard to Netflix.

Even most of the high end electronics like phones and cars is assembled here - not made here. Not an issue.. just pointing out that a lot of our stuff is imported from China. Our tech is of course dominated by the US

Dependency on GE for Tejas is turning out to be such a risky affair.
GTRE needs to be penalized for their lackluster attitude towards Kaveri. 40 saal me ek engine nahi bana nalayakon se.
Had we shown some vision and designed the Tejas keeping in mind Russian engines, we may have 100-150 Tejas jets inducted in the Airforce.

Nope... Made in Bangladesh Vietnamese products are in plenty in low tier malls like zudio, westside pantaloons etc

People go for it as they are cheaper.

Also Vietnamese clothing is generally better than Indian ones in quality as well.

Brands like Ramraj are holding on to their own against brands like Jockey in lower tier cities but urban market remains elusive.

There is potential in local  gym clothing brands like fuaark to give more competition to Adidas Nike Asics etc

I wish more Indian textile manufacturers hire strong design, marketing and distribution teams and create sustainable and globally competitive brands like how Chinese have done.

Okay now even 6.5% growth is unlikely.

Massive blackpill already for a low pci country with a young and growing demography.

Baboos are a wrecking ball indeed.  Policy failure all around.

All signs point towards 2nd QRT.. GDP numbers to be absymal.

Q1 Earnings season was mixed and no better than last years Q3 and Q4 for which the market had corrected.

Not even maintaining 6.5% is downright pathetic.  Nikalo inko bhai
