Sudarshan is not a T20 player despite IPl heroics. Sudarshan and Jurel are 2 players I will keep away from T20 despite IPL but they should be in the scheme of things for tests and Odis.

Sai Sudarshan as no. 3 in Tests and ODIS, and Jurel only for Tests.

Agreed... That was my ODI 11... I would not have Gill and KL in my T20i team either... ODIs yeah

 

Saying that , there may be a place for Jurel in T20is

It is a bit reactionary thread. Iyer the batsman doesn't inspire any confidence against good pace attacks even in white ball cricket, let alone test cricket.

He's good no doubt about it but as you said hint of bounce his ability reduces by 50% plus has that egoistic attitude which doesn't allow him to adjust either on tough surfaces

If current form is criteria,he definitely makes the "squad"

True. The thing is you need a proven performer in all conditions to be your captain. Making him a test captain when his place itself isn't secure isn't a bright idea. We don't want another non-performing captain situation where the captain has to be pushed-out or opt-out in overseas tests.

Pant is supposed to do that role given that he was going to be a certainty.  He is going through a very rough stretch.  Bumrah given his injury issues is not a long term option.  Jaiswal too young to be the captain. Ideally they should kick out Kohli/Rohit and briefly appoint Rahane as captain.

Clive Lloyd was a bad captain. How did he lose to trundler attack in 1983? Get over it guys it is a dumb league IPl match that no one will remember in a couple of days. Iyer checks all the boxes as a leader and as a batsmen in terms of temperament and some good qualifies as a batsman.of course he has flaws but there aren’t too many ahead of him.

Fikar mat kar. If he continues to struggle till the end of IPL, will create a personalized thread to slag him off 

 

But don't think that'll be needed as Iyer is too good for that to happen. His track record is there for everyone to see and his leadership is better than the other options we have. Though must say I like SKY's captaincy and man management but he's not a ODI and Test player, plus he isn't performing as a batter in T20Is.

He sweats in a 20 over game these days. No way he can be a test captain. 

Iyer looked the better choice if he could work on his short ball. Id love to have a batsman like him in Test cricket. He does not hold back
