tapandrun Posted May 4 Posted May 4 13 hours ago, Ultimate_Game said: Don't want Gill as he has that selfishness and a knack for putting his interests over the team's. We all saw that when he pushed new-comer and a youngster Abhishek down the order after Abhishek scored a 40 ball 100 in T20I. Rather than build the kid's confidence and give him more opportunities the way SKY has done with Tilak, Gill pushed Abhiskek to no. 3 when Gill as a captain and a senior player should've pushed himself down at 3. We saw that once again in the match against RR when Suryavanshi scored an eye-opening 100 as a 14 year old kid! Instead of congratulating the kid, and building his confidence and being gracious as anyone would, Gill came off as an immature, petty, and selfish jerk who couldn't stomach a school kid's success. I may not like SKY as a player as I don't think he has the game for tough situations and goes missing in big matches but I would still prefer SKY over Gill as Gill can ruin the team chemistry and culture. We're hoping for a fresh start after Kohli and Rohit's retirements so we can finally put the team ahead instead of stars. With Gill comin in and being the prominent player, we'll go back to the dark days and will continue doeing the same thing for 20 more years. The reason we love the modern Indian T20I team and these young, fearless kids are coz they play for the team instead of their stats. We don't want that to change by bringing in Gill at the helm the same way the team was under Kohli with stat-padders ruling the roost. That's why prefer Shreyas Iyer as the captain and player over Gill. Iyer has shown the maturity and leadership which is missing Gill. In fact even Pandya is better in that respect than Gill. I would take Iyer, Pandya or SKY ahead of Gill as captain and Sai Sudarshan as the batter. Sai can do the same things which Gill can without the selfishness. Its Ind crkt, Gill will play t20is, will be captaining the side in some time. Both Sky and Axar are not stars and kind of stop gap waiting for GIl to do well when they will be replace by gill. Ind cricket is not about winning, impact its about numbers, avgs superficial stats. Ultimate_Game, Suhaan and nevada 2 1
crictime Posted May 4 Posted May 4 Why was Sai Kishore not given more overs. I think he was having a good IPL but Shubman seems to be lacking trust in him. Is his decission to not bowl him more justified ? Ultimate_Game 1

Texan Posted May 4 Posted May 4 At the moment, I see Gill only good enough to play one format: ODIs His Test form has gone drastically down after that great start. He has got too many chances now for too little returns. In ODis, he is competent, but I would still prefer Jaiswal over him if Rohit is going to continue as the other opener. In T20s, I would keep the current combination of Samson and Abhishek. Abhishek is capable of getting extreme quick starts, which can change the course of a game, while Samson also showed that he can get 100s in good time outside Asia plus he plays the keeper role. If you drop him, then who do you get as keeper? Surely not Pant or KL. Even as backup, I would prefer Jaiswal as Jaiswal is looking to hit sixes right from the beginning. Gill can play good orthodox shots, but he fails to score freely off well directed balls or manufacture shots to break the rhythm of bowlers. Ultimate_Game and Suhaan 1 1

Selectors should seriously watch out the new set of players popping in, although too early but I see shades of Badada Vada in Mhatre,he can be his replacement in times to come they can surely slot in guys as like for like replacements only if they keep their eyes honestly open not keep it shut in the love of certain darlings who are earmarked as princes/kiiinng/monk etc Ultimate_Game 1

Gill's interview after that innings was cringe and reeked of jealousy and pettiness. You expect better from a so called leader. Shows exactly why he pushed Abhishek down the order after Abhishek had scored a 40 ball 100 as an opener in only his 2nd match. Gill can't build a team and is very similar to Kohli in that respect. It's all ME ME ME instead of doing what's better for the team. Chakdephatte, nevada and Lord 3

vvvslaxman Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Today he did well. Got a peach of a delivery. He has improved his percentage cricket. Targets bowlers at the right time. His singles stealing skill is spot on. Sai, Shreyas, Shubman. best single stealers among young players. SSS
