He is with CSK now. Worst franchisee to pick a wicket keeper. Because there is no way in hell a keeper can shine with CSK.

Signs this might be Thala's last season

Almost confirmed. Making a squad through replacements as Thala will go

A player on bench gets mysteriously injured, allowing franchise to get a good player and retain BOTH for next season without affecting their purse in the auction. The rule makes no sense

Another Dubey? Shivam, Shubham, Harsh, Gentle - how many more are they?

THey are making team for next season lol.

Next move Ben Duckett for Shreyas Gopal

Poor SHreyas Gopal . In an era where leggies are preferred as bowling in the middle overs he couldn't even get a look in.

Not possible. They have 8 overseas now.

Maybe Rajasthan can try that.  Ben Duckett or Siefert for some random guy on bench

Rajasthan have two leftie openers already. Still worth it. Even Lhuan Dre Preturious is a potential pick.

Missed the point :wall:

Indian should be replaced by Indian only. That too like for like as much possible.

Is there such a rule in the first place. If so what are other franchisees doing

Yeah, don't think there is any such rule. As long as the total number of overseas players <= 8, it should be fine.

The bigger scam is retaining both the injured player and the replacement in the subsequent season

The absurdity of the rules is whole point of the thread. There is nothing against the rules but the rules don't make sense themselves.

The 8 OS rule applies to auctions where you have a specific purse. You can;t buy 6 there , save money and get other 2 by replacing bench players

While it might look weird, I don't see it as offering a big advantage to the team, because these are unsold players in the auction, and any team could have got them at base price anyway.

Unsold because their purse gets filled. Many players base price itself is 1-2 Cr.

While you may think this is not fair this has been going on since start of IPl

lets not forget bombay fot Bunrah as injury replacement, rcb got Gayle same way and so many other examples
