I know but you can’t make a keeper who under performs under pressure as a captain in Pant. You can’t make Gill captain either without him being able to justify his place as batsman first. We are not making Jaiswal captain yet , we are making him vice captain. How he does in leadership role will determine if he is next captain. Edited May 7 by putrevus Manucrick 1

Whereas Rohit was instrumental in losing us our first home series against NZ and lost the BGT due to him showing up for the series. Fatty should've retired from Tests some time back, and should've been kicked out of the team after the NZ series humiliation along with Kohli. Both of them are shyte in Tests for a while now with Kohli being a no-show for almost 6 years now! vvvslaxman, cricspirit, Texan and 1 other 4

Texan Posted May 8 Posted May 8 Rohit Sharma's Test career will remain a case of "so mucb potential, so little achievements". For somebody who started his career with back to back Test centuries and was often hailed as a great potential, he delievered much less than promised. Yes, there were some great moments mostly in Indian conditions, but only one hundred in SENA and disastrous records in Aus and SA suggest him to be a very average Test cricketer. The retirement came a bit late. He should have quit as soon as we lost to NZ at home. But anyway, it does look like BCCI must have pressured him to leave. At the end of Aus series he was adamant to continue, so definitely some messages have transpired from BCCI to him. cricspirit, diga, nevada and 1 other 4

He redeemed himself somewhat with solid batting in quite a few home series, contributing to our dominance at home. He should have retired from tests also after the T20 WC win. And should have announced his retirement from ODIs as well a month or two after winning the Champions Trophy. 38 years old, overweight and slow, and batting from memory with the odd good performance here and there - how long can a player carry on like that?
