Temples, concerts, rallies, melas, stadiums and movie theatres are ripe for incidents like these. Go to these places only if it is absolutely necessary and even there always stay away from Rowdy groups.

The land is too densely populated to enjoy ANY outdoor activity.  There is NO OTHER country that has such congested public places.

Unsurprisingly every minister was present in the function... Wanted to hog a piece of the limelight

Blame the ruling class if any one is to blame

Chinnaswamy stampede | Magisterial probe to look into KSCA or police lapses, says Siddaramaiah

10 lakhs compensation for the dead . What a royal mess created by RCB managemnt/authorities and IPL babus. I rememer when KKR won it in 2014, there was a similar function in Eden Gardens with Mamata Begum attending the fiunction. Politicians wanting to bask in the limelight is nothing new

IMO the winners should hold an event to felicitate the winners after 2-3 days. That way passions have cooled down a bit and people are back to normal. Hold the ceremony in a stadium similar to scheduling an IPL match. Give out tickets and security and other arrangements remain the same. And stream the event so those who couldn't get a ticket can watch it online.

New Year's in Times Square has a lot of people at the same time. Mostly well organized, people wait there for more than 12 hours, peeing and shitting in public. One of the worst places to be on New Year's eve to see the ball drop. All for one photograph. Recently 70 people died in a stampede in Seoul during a Halloween parade.

Overall US of A has a lot of space per capita. But not the case with us.

Every day i go out  there is a queue and a crowd and a parking congestion for every aspect. This is true even for tier 2 towns and some villages. The land is too densely populated.

BCCI or ICC governing council should strictly ammend their rules stating that no victory parades or mass celebrations after tournament wins should be undertaken by the franchisees.

Unfortunately, you cannot really stop local government or local franchises from organizing such events. Even BCCI should have avoided those parades they did after WT20 win and stuff. But mainly, local administration should put a blanket ban on such events. Cricket parades can go crazy and there is no way police can control such huge crowds in such small spaces.

Bkl MC Kohli saale ab ro haramzaade...zaada celebrate karta firta hai harami...BC fixed paisa league..aisa kya aasmaan ukhaad liya MChodo :whack::whack:

Apparently, the function and celebrations and PR events were still going on inside the stadium, while people were dying in the stampede outside. The authorities and players should be sensitive towards loss of life and not worry about some some fcuking PR exercise with Star Sports. I want to slap that Jatin Sapru guy who is always fawning about Kohli and does most of the PR exercises with Kohli. #1 l*da choos of Kohli.

BC.MC...they should have stopped the celebration. You insensitive parasites.

Atleast the administrators should have told them to stop.

how to verify those times? comments say both happened nearly at same time

Now, I wish RCB had lost the IPL Final. He has been a curse to RCB for 17 years, who cares if he wins an IPL or not, lives are more important. Even after winning, his curse on Bengaluru lingers on.

Blaming the RCB players for what happened isn't just unfair, It’s downright irrational. These players poured their hearts out and finally brought joy to their fans after 18 long years. They weren’t managing the crowd. They weren’t in charge of public safety. That responsibility lies with the local authorities. Yes, grieve for the lives lost. Yes, demand stronger safety measures. But don’t turn your frustration into disrespect for a team and fanbase that simply celebrated a long-awaited moment. This is a time for accountability, not aimless finger-pointing.

Reports say that stampede happened when the stadium gates were opened. So both cannot be going on at the same time.

It's hard to believe they didn't know what was happening outside the stadium.

It's hard to believe they didn't anticipate such a thing to happen

There is no value of human life in India. People just don't learn. No common sense whatsoever.

The morbi bridge incident in amdavad a few years back.

The baba incident where devotees went to touch his feet and 70+ died in UP last year.

And this nonsense. BC khud ki life ko to thoda value karo.

True that it is indeed impossible to control huge crowds.

I had been on vacation and there was so much rush at a place of worship that I stopped going ahead as soon as I realized the huge crowd moving haphazardly. There is no point taking risks being aware of  certain things. Better to miss one spot.

Then there was other place where I was in queue, but then on the stairs it was mad rush with hardly a square foot of ventillation. And the people who were up were sight seeing which increased the wait time.  It was horrible experience and there was no chance to move back as they close the gates once certain number of people are in. To maximize the income during peak vacation time, they will send enough people to cause some or other incident.

The problem is that one does not knows the sight and hence cannot always anticipate what can go wrong in places which are very poorly managed by those in charge. Somehow as stampedes do not happen, the usual approach continues and become a tragedy in waiting.

This tragedy in waiting situations can be tackled by local bans as you mentioned.

RCB should have managed this in an efficient way as many have suggested in this thread.
