Vk1 Posted June 24 Posted June 24 (edited) TM just assumed Bumrah, Shami will manage.. Siraj will be understudy to Bumrah and will spearhead the attack later etc.. all their assumptions have failed miserably Edited June 24 by Vk1 express bowling 1
urbestfriend Posted June 24 Posted June 24 I am not hopeful of any bowlers except Bumrah...So with bumrah rested, it is best to give chance to other three "medium" pacers ( Akashdeep + Arshdeep + Rana)

Coaching and captaining has to come into play.First they need start with getting competitive before they can win. They have to work as if they are playing without Bumrah even when he is playing otherwise this is going to be long long series. Edited June 24 by putrevus
Adamant Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Problem isn’t that Gambhir selected the wrong pacers, the problem is that we don’t have good pacers apart from Bumrah.

They said the same about Ishant, Shami and Umesh. All of them bowled well under Kohli. So captaincy and coaching matters a lot. rollingstoned, iluv80085 and Vk1 3

Probkem is that no attempt was made by TMs and selectors to groom the next gen of pacers after Bumrah, Shami, Siraj. Whenever Bumrah and Shami were injured or rested, low ceiling random pacers were selected between mid 2022 to mid 2024. And then duly dropped too. rollingstoned 1
putrevus Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Bumrah is great but as usual under pressure he has not delivered.I have not seen a great bowler who shrinks under pressure as him. Both batsmen have so many weaknesses but they played him with utmost ease today.

He has played in many knockout matches and big matches. Edited June 24 by putrevus
putrevus Posted June 24 Posted June 24 First big mistake Bumrah and TM management did was to announce he will play only three tests. Why tell everyone , what are you gaining from it. Ravi_Shastri 1

What is the pressure in the 1st test of a 5 match series ? Bumrah has played big parts in WC 24 win, BGT 18-19 win, BGT 20-21 win, Eng 21-22 draw, SA 23 draw, AC 23 win. Yes cricket is team game but superstars are supposed to get teams over the line. Kohli and Sachin got abuse for not taking their teams over the line and rightly so. Our genius goes missing in critical moments and matches.Nothing new in his career. His case is worse as he is a bowler, batsmen atleast have excuse one delivery can get them out. And he was a rookie in 2017, just a few ODIs under his belt. rollingstoned 1

I find these arguments very vain, even the likes of Cummins, Starc, Hazlewood have consistently allowed teams to chase down big totals. BTW, I still have confidence on Bumrah turning this around. express bowling and singhvivek141 2
