Revisiting my XI as I forgot some players

Jaiswal

KL

Sai

Gill

Pant

Sundar

Reddy

Kuldeep

Harshit

Akashdeep

Bumrah

2 spinners 3 pacers and still decent batting depth. This is the best we can do with this lot

Since Harshit is gone back replace him with Arshdeep

Breaking

IND vs ENG: India fast bowler Harshit Rana released from squad ahead of second Test in Birmingham

Can GoI give immediate citizenship to Shamar Joseph? If not, even Alzarri Joseph will do.

Washington, the batter, averages 42.6 after 9 tests. And is a fighter with the bat. We need this to strengthen our lower-middle order.

He played an extremely selfish innings in Australia which is unpardonable. We had around 17 overs to bat with 3 wickets in hand and instead of trying to farm the strike to draw the game (no matter how difficult) he was taking singles off first delivery.

Cant ever forgive people like that.. not even trying

Realistically, only Thakur will be dropped.. One of Nitish or Sundar will play instead of him.

Maybe Arshdeep/Akashdeep in place of Prasidh.

I don't think they'll drop Sai or Nair after 1 match.

Jadeja bowled beautifully as per our captain, so he'll continue

By far the best lineup. Although I'd give Siraj one more go. We'd have a lower-order batter short, though.

Tilak Varma scored a 100 on Hampshire debut. Dont think he has the technique for long format though

He does. He averages 50 in FC cricket. He is more suited to test cricket.

I think we should stop discussing batting position we have more than enough batting talent but not much talent in bowling or genuine allrounders

Feels like Akash and Anshul (I know he isn't in squad) would be good 3rd and 4th pacemen. B.be consistent and keep things tight

Test bowling tailunt is diminishing everywhere only SA and NZ seems to have good young red ball bowlers to continue their good performance

What was the point of stopping Harshit if he was to be released,Kamboj should have been there as he did well in intra game and Eng Lions

Harshit didn't do that well ,they both should have been retained

It looks like Harshit has gone back now, released from squad according to cricbuzz... He was in as temporary cover...

Yes totally agree about Kamboj, what was the point of A tour if performances weren't taken into account for senior series

Prasidh and Arshdeep last played FC in Jan 25 and Oct 24 ..  both , Arshdeep especially, could have done with some long spells in English conditions before first test ... Though the break in IPL killed that idea ofd

  1. Yashasvi Jaiswal – LHB, Opener

  2. KL Rahul – RHB, Opener

  3. Sai Sudharsan – LHB, No. 3 (retained for left-right balance despite low score)

  4. Shubman Gill (c) – RHB, No. 4

  5. Rishabh Pant (wk) – LHB, No. 5

  6. Nitish Kumar Reddy – RHB, RMF, No. 6 (batting allrounder adds balance)

  7. Ravindra Jadeja – LHB, SLA, No. 7 (spin + experience)

  8. Arshdeep Singh – LAMF (Test debut, swing bowler, left-arm angle)

  9. Mohammed Siraj – RF

  10. Kuldeep Yadav – Chinaman (adds variation + bats better than Prasidh)

  11. Akash Deep – RMF (hard lengths, known quantity)

Assuming Bumrah rests the next match

Yeah Harshit is sent back so he may get the chance

We only had 1 bowler in Leeds, so we can go with that same strategy. Difference is - this line-up will not be all out twice ... possibly
