Rohit and Virat should be phased out of ODIs and not considered for the 2027 WC. They will be bereft of match practice (100% they will play only IPL and some ODIs prior to WC and will not play Vijay Hazare for sure) and won't be fully match fit. They can't play in the 2027 WC just because of their past as legendary ODI players.

 

It's time to get in Jaiswal in place of Rohit to open with Gill (the new ODI captain) and Tilak Varma in place of Virat. Time for Gambhir to again make the call to get rid of these 2 leeches.

If we don't have replacements, one can think of carrying Virat. Rohit at age 40 is far too stretched anyhow. 

 

But we have abundance of talent in white ball. Give Jaiswal and Tilak/Sai all games before ODI WC 2027 and they would be more than ready.

Kohli was playing for SA in the final. I am sorry there were other heroes like SHreyas Iyer, Axar patel that stepped up. This is how he was conning us for 5 years occupying the most critical batting test spot. Nobody is going to miss either of them. 

He got the MOTM ergo his contribution was significant.

Rohit must be released immediately. Too old, too unfit now.

 

With Kohli, wait and watch approach. Almost 30 months to go, long time. Kohli if motivated and in form walks into the XI, don't even dream of playing Iyer over him in those conditions. Confident that he'll keep fit.

 

Motivation may be an issue, with him settled abroad, playing just one format (9-10 games per year) and IPL, will be out of touch with the sport most of the year. He has already achieved everything in that format, WC, CT, Asia Cup, series wins in all major countries.

 

Anyway hope communication lines with him are clear. If he isn't feeling it, call should be made at least a year in advance.
