"This team wants to fight for the common man back home"- Gautam Gambhir in PC

For Sanjay Manjrekar, the Old Trafford draw couldn’t hide the fact that Gambhir had still won just four of his 14 Tests in charge.

"I feel India has done well despite some of his (Gambhir) tactical decisions. Let’s not forget: India lost 3-0 at home to New Zealand, lost comfortably to Australia (away). The fight we’ve seen in this team? That’s down to the players. Because tactically, Gambhir hasn’t always made things easier – especially with some of his selections."

"You can tell there are certain questions that get under his skin— especially when people question Gill as a young captain and batter. And honestly, those are valid doubts. Even people who deeply understand cricket wonder whether this was the right time to hand him that opportunity. I just hope we can all understand this better," Manjrekar said.

"It's not about 'you guys think’ and 'we think'— we're all part of the same industry and the same country. I'd just like to see him take a chill pill, relax a bit, and be open to tough questions. Whether that will happen, I'm not sure,"

I started a thread asking whether the team did what they because of Gauti's coaching or despite Gauti's coaching. This thread provides a clear answer:

He never comes across as a professional coach who strikes a balance between being strategical and being inspirational.  He has this standard template of going  in with a versatile unit covering as many bases as possible. I am all for it. But you also need to focus on the best available in all departments. Who is your best fast bowler. Bumrah. Who is best spin option? Kuldeep ofcourse. So he has to find a way to accommodate him. You don't sit the best options on the bench.

It was a normal press conferenece with the journalists coming up with expected questions.

This guy was so defensive throughout the PC , someone rightly said Gautam Gambhir can pick a fight with his shadow.

The Indian team has barely reached the oval and Gambhir seems to have started fighting with the ground staff now

Fighting for the common man

Ticking Time Bomb,

If he did say ‘Just a grounds man’ then GG is a disgrace.

Not everyone in the world is privileged to have a high paying occupation, luck also plays a part in life.

In addition large % of GG’s countrymen live in poverty. Comment sounds bad on so many levels.

Not too sure how much he really cares about the ‘common man’, seems like hypocrisy.

No one seems to address the equally faltering pace unit ,which started reggresing from Dravid era or one may coincide it with Bharat Arun's departure

NCA too did their pathetic role

Gambhir has accelerated the eventual fall with his stupid decisions

He has completely destroyed the T20 setup by bringing in Gill, with all the positions getting disturbed, the lower middle order has no strength

SL almost beat us,Pak scared us, remember these sides are already quite poor

We being ,a tremendous T20 side earlier instead chose to weaken ourselve by playing a nudger uptop
