When he hasn't bowled in a FC or List A in 20 months and got one match across last two seasons in IPL, primarily due to fitness issues. Let him play the VH Trophy to show he can sustain his pace. In fact, based on what he did on 2020-21 Aus your as a net bowler, he has a higher ceiling for FC cricket and should aim to play full FC season of UP, will of course have to pick wickets in a highly competitive UP pace line up tapandrun 1

This will raise eye-brows. Yes Bcci does not take care of budding high pace fast bowlers, but tyagi has to be accountable here too.

He couldn't play UPTL last year due to injury, missed out on IPL this year due to that same injury. Missed most of the IPL last year too. Last time when he was fit, he played SMA trophy and VH trophy back to back. Then got injured at the end of VH trophy and missed rest of the season. Edited August 18, 2025 by rkt.india

A lot of these young pacers have been injured for last 2-3 years or get fit in time for T20 leagues and then get injured again. Could be a ploy to conserve themselves for only T20s. Two prime examples are Kuldeep Sen and Simarjeet Singh. Both were on India team radar, were regularly practicing with the National team..then from 2022-23 onwards have mostly been invisible. Both can hit the ideal test match length consistently. With a better work ethic, could easily have been in test contention ahead of Kamboj or Arshdeep. Add Umran, Tyagi, now Mayank. That's 5 very promising pacers, all with the ability to be 140+ even in longer formats, missing in action. Navdeep Saini, though senior to everyone, could have been another test regular in post Ishant and Shami era. Did not have the proper work ethic and could not handle the fame. That Ranji spell of him bowling 140+ vs Bengal is as legendary as Aaron's VHT spell with 150+ speeds or Umesh's 140+ spell in Irani Trophy 2010-11.

So only 10 in 5 years, missed mostly due to injuries. He has been injured in those years and only time he remained injury free for an extended time was when he played UPTL in September where he picked two hattrick then SMA trophy and then VH trophy. So around 15-16 odd games in three months.

Think tyagi is different cases than that of Kuldeep and Simarjeet. Kuldeep was selected for that BD tour played 1 game and then dropped and never made a come back, made a mistake to move to TN from MP for a season where he was benched most of the time, then had knee injury, think only this season he got surgery. Simar has different problem he plays for delhi which has truck load of fast bowlers its hard to get chance, only thins season he gt some games. Saini and Ishant are not retiring and which board can say no if intnl players say they are available to play for them, del state side is v.diff for fast bowlers. Umaran play for JK took part in all the tournaments till he was injured this season. Mayank is a case for bcci to solve. In regards to Saini as intnl fast bowler do not think he was there and was bit unfortunate as well got injured when picked so played half fit, but he could only bowl 1 length and that length can be easy at intnl level. When bowling full he was floating it up and can not bowl 2 balls consistently ~143 kmph. Aaron was bit unlucky he got injured had a bad back and at that time no one in Ind knew how to handle pacers and his back kept getting bad, plus doni's time as a captain was not good for extra pace bowlers. Umesh was fit and was lucky that kolhi took over as captain and created a good pace attack. Edited August 18, 2025 by tapandrun
