Chakdephatte Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 What's the fuss. It's just a useless Asia Cup. If anything, his chances of making it to the T20 world cup would've dropped after playing on these pitches. He is very likely to make a comeback till then.
rkt.india Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Har khiladi ko har format kyun khilana hai. Hamari T20 team settled thi. Gill ko jabardasti ghusa diya. We have so many players. All need to play creating different teams for different formats.

Iyer most improved player last one year, clutch, leadership qualities, always an asset in SC conditions, against spin etc. But can't even find a place in the reserve list? Iyer suited to ODIs only. Not every player need to play every format. Gill selection in T20 is a poor thought process. Manucrick 1
Gollum Posted August 20, 2025 Posted August 20, 2025 Not investing in PR will screw Jaiswal in the long run. Even his SM posts are his own, raw and unfiltered, no editing, brand placement or PR touch. Won't work in 2025. Kapil ne sahi kaha cricspirit, vvvslaxman and Lord 3

On the back of his IPL form and kind of hitting ability he has shown, Iyer deserves a shot at T20is But it would need to be if say Tilak or Sky were injured Gill I agree should not be in the squad Edited August 20, 2025 by Sooda
Gollum Posted August 27, 2025 Posted August 27, 2025 And here we have posters questioning his work ethic.

T20s are played in a certain way today that you will have to play it like specialist It's a specialists job,if you impose it on you ,very little chance that you will succeed in the most purist form of cricket unless the pitches are like India Eng had in first 2 tests in Eng

I think ODIs impact players the most. It's relatively feasible to switch from T20 to tests. Attacking game works in test also. ODIs are worst where you have to just dab at each ball and try to take singles.

It wont be like gill does not suite t20i we need to bring another opener or a #3 batter. Its they are selecting some1 not suited for the format as VC. Its v.similar issue ind had to rohit/dhawan/kolhi --all 3 played the same kind of slow approach cricket and when selectors relaised Ind already was legging behind the top teams so they brought in KL whose game was already changed to similar to rohit/kolhi and then they realized both kolhi and rohit are not so good vs LA spin/pace plus leg spin and they have dropped the only Left handed batter from top 3 who could have tackled the LA and leg spinners Which is a bad decision itself and as Ind does not have a wk who can walk into the 11 just upon their batting --they are making 2 bad decisions and 2 batters not suited for the format will be in the team. Other teams are catching up with big hitting, Aus is already upto it with all the heavy hitter no accumulator as such This is there SRs in last 1 year Tim David → 192.07 | Century (102*) Travis Head → 178+ | Four 50s (best 80), SR 194.39 since T20 WC 2024 Glenn Maxwell → 171.68 | Century (120*) + one 50 Josh Inglis → 170.48 | Century (102) + two 50s Marcus Stoinis → 156.39 | Three 50s (best 67*) Cameron Green → 151+ | Four 50s (best 62*) Mitchell Marsh → 140.83 | Best 72* Mitchell Owen → 192+ | One 50 Edited August 27, 2025 by tapandrun

Can take time build innings at your own pace -- pick and chose the kind of bowler they want to target. Other team are trying to bring fast scoring batters to test set-up, but Ind is doing the opposite they are bringing the slow scoring players in t20is. Its completely different ideology. So other team are not only trying to make tests more exiting but also trying to keep the players interested such that they do not completely pivot towards t20 cricket for monetary gains and only players without t20 skills take up test as the last option Edited August 27, 2025 by tapandrun
