vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Buttler in charge. He is a pretty good in these situations. Takes chacne against right bowlers.
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Ngidi did Buttler in. Slower ball 70 mph delivery
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 That slower ball was something to look at it again. Buttler was insanely bamboozled.
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 Archer 6. 19 in 10 needed. 2 wickets in hand
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 You don't push Pakistanis for quick 2nd lol Predictably run out by a distance
nitinbwj Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 SA win despite Muthuswami. Kahan se aaya hai yeh
Nikhil_cric Posted September 4, 2025 Posted September 4, 2025 Between Ngidi, Muthuswamy and Bavuma, SA ware really lucky to win this match.
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 IT was too risky to reserve Muthuswamy for the last 5 overs.
vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2025 Author Posted September 4, 2025 I think having ODI field set for England in tests will put an end to this charade of chasing 370 in 4th innings. They will gift their wickets away if they don't score runs.

Only happened with pak in 96, Ind with sachin in 11 but sachin was top scorer. Ind has already pushed the luck with t20i 24 wc and Ct 25 every other team is trying to rebuild and get in new players and give them chances vs good sides Edited September 5, 2025 by tapandrun Manucrick and Nikhil_cric 2

So both are needed

So both are needed yes both are averaging 50+ and sr of 90+ in odis in last 1-2 year. but game has moved on with 320 are not being a safe target. Think Ind will need batters who can ensure that they set-up total of 330 or more. in ct ind played of pitches where 270 was a good total and a goldilocks kind of situation for kolhi who can play at his own pace and still be ahead of the game with rohit giving initial impetus where mo had time to take up few balls. odis is also becoming fast scoring can rohit and kolhi catch up , plus ind wont get time to get new players in and try them vs good sides
putrevus Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Kohli in his sleep will be better than any other Indian batsman in odis. Rohit fitness is the issue.Guys like Iyer will be struggling mightly in SA. This is not IPL where you get to have extra batsman.Even in t20s 180-190 is more than par score even today. If guy like Jaiswal cannot crack his place in t20s , how will be replace two of best odi batsmen in history. There is no one else who is even close to Jaiswal who can contend to replace them. These useless Sai Sudhershan are not evne worth discussing as replacement. I don't think either of them should play next world cup .It is time to move on fromt hem.But this notion that ODI batting is beyond them is ridiculous. Some moron was suggesting England was team to beat in 2023 and CT, we all know what happened to them. Odis is not an extended t20 , it still needs batsman to build an innings.

Both rohit and kolhi are white-ball cricket masters, would be hard to replace them and on paper no Ind new player can come close even to make an outside case. If not wrong the average 1st innings total in SA in odi in last 3 years is 290+ (data based on quick google search) . And this is what a quick google search says about 2nd innings While a precise average of second innings totals isn't provided, South Africa's white-ball run rate has increased significantly since 2023, reaching 6.27 runs per over, which is a high benchmark that suggests strong batting and indicates a tendency for high scoring in second innings. SA provides good batting pitches for white-ball tournaments. Ind needs to prepare for the eventuality of if rohit is not fully fit or kolhi form or run scoring rate is not optimum Edited September 5, 2025 by tapandrun
Sgattick10 Posted September 5, 2025 Posted September 5, 2025 Matthew Breetzke what a find for SA. In next 2-3 yrs this SA team will be unbeatable, good hitters, allrounders, fast bowlers and decent spinners and they always field well.

It does not matter what the average par score is they are still the best options. First let us find someone who is even had decent before taking their place. I don’t think they should be playing but it is not easy to replace a guy like Kohli. It is going to be hard for them to have match fitness playing just Odis. What is their plan selectors need some clear understanding.

INdia has never had this many options. Jaiswal is yet to make debut. That is crazy. Look what it did to our team in the Tests. ODI is possibly the easiest format where you can tuk tuk , statpad without much risk and also without much threat. Literally anyone can come and do even better.
