2 in cricket

1 in hockey (Ind W in hockey are a bit way off the top tier but still should improve with HPL/economic development etc but not gold medal contenders)

A few in shooting

Compound archery (LA has only one event but hopefully more events in the future)

Wrestling (mostly women's)

These are our best chances.

Maybe some guy/girl comes up in athletics like Chopra in field events, who knows.

Maybe badminton too.....

Richa, Harman and Smriti appear stronger than some of the men's cricketers like Kuldeep and Chahal. They were hitting 80+ metre sixes with ease.

SMriti is like Ganguly. 90% timing.

But for Shami NZ would have chased 389 against us.

Yes we would have lost that match without Shamis magic.

Back in the 90s, in a match there was a batsman called Subroto Bannerjee who hit a six with every inch of his life which barely crossed the boundary and everyone talked about this six for days together with so much fondness. Now women's cricketers are hitting 80m sixes with ease.

Bats have changed now. 6 hitting is much easier.

Barry Richards holding his bat (which he used to score 300 in a day) with Warner's bat. Viv is talked about fondly because he used to clear MCG grounds with a toothpick of a bat, same with Kapil paaji.

Yeah even with all the bat changes and ground dimensions there is still an element of technique to hitting sixes.

Last year during our test series with BD Tamim Iqbal in the commentary box raised this question about how some of the Indian batsmen even with frail personalities were hitting such huge sixes.

10 years back in Aus pitches don’t think so.

The Aus pitches in 14-15 were some of the flattest ever, awful drop ins. 2015 WC games in Aus were cruel on the bowlers, so many batting records fell.

That SCG SF track was like an SC patta, and we got a rollicking start in the runchase. Then Kohli came and scored 1(14), killed the momentum, followed by the weirdest partnership between Rahane and Dhoni who didn't even try to win, played 20 overs in the middle (half of them bowled by Maxwell and Watson) and scored 90 runs. One of the most spineless batting displays I have ever seen.

We were lucky today too with dropped catches

You put your opponent under pressure, they will make mistakes. If you bat like cowards (2015 SF, 23 F), don't expect luck going your way.

That went missing against Eng. She scored 18 off 15 and Rana 11 off 10. That 4 run defeat still hurts

In hindsight good that we lost against Eng. Otherwise they would have kept Jemi out of the XI.

Dunno about this place , but many old gentlemen's clubs in India have strict rules about what you can or cannot do, your attire, etiquette related stuff. Membership fees are prohibitively high (also you need strong references from well connected folks) and you get kicked out over the smallest of reasons....clubs do these things to maintain exclusivity.

Conversions are legal in India, happen in huge numbers in South India. But where are they conducted? Have never heard of Arya Samaj doing conversion activities in Kolkata yacht club? They may do that in temples managed by them or some of their centres.

Trolling of Jemi is uncalled for because the allegations are against her father, any threat of violence against her should get the police involved. But if her father used her membership card to book facilities for conversion, not tough to see why the club may have had a problem with that. Once you allow it for a certain religion, other religious groups will also demand the same. Club has every right to choose what members to keep.

What you say is correct but then the vohra post doesn't cover this..it only says father used her membership for conversion. What you are saying is two fold.

1. Either her dad cannot book the club which the club should have denied or she booked in her name and then dad organized the activity.

2. In any reservation you are asked what is the event. Either they lied or the club had no issues allowing that sort of activity.

Then the ban happened only after someone created an issue. Now in India it is very common for friends or family to book event in places they hold membership if it is allowed.
