Gollum Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Is it just me or was Rohit's knock poor today? Never looked convincing, was so so lucky in the first 10 overs, his hand-eye against pace is gone. Lord and Ultimate_Game 2

That too when he is hyped for being 'selfless' Ultimate_Game and Gollum 1 1

Oh i forgot Washington Sundar and Iyer were great with their amazing SRs, when they win one match on their own we will revist Rohit SR. If Rohit stays like this and wants to play WC, he should be just fine along with Kohli. Edited October 23 by putrevus
Gollum Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Rohit, Kohli are similar to 2017-19 Dhoni now. We know how we suffered in 2019 WC cos of Dhoni.
putrevus Posted October 23 Posted October 23 Unlike Dhoni who did not much even in 2011 world cup till finals, he was carried to final by others.Dhoni is not even patch on these two as a batsman. No two batsmen have carried the load like these two in odis. These guys have carried the Indian team even in CT 2025. We can revisit their failures when anyone wins the matches if both of them fail.Let them decide their futures , they have earned it.

Over-the-hill players, OTOH, are at the same level or slightly better than the younger players, but on the other side of the peak with a downward trajectory. Lord and Gollum 1 1

What future, how long have guys like Gill and Iyer been playing when will they take the mantle over.

Let them decide their futures. How will others come in if these has been oldies don't leave? How can likes of Jaiswal, Sai, Tilak, Rinku, Parag etc. get their chance and prove themselves when 2 out of the top 3 are 40 year old retirees? All of the players I mentioned have proved themselves in domestic and intl level but can't get their chance. Jaiswal has consistently been our best batter over the last 2-3 years and still stuck waiting for his chance. Sai won India bilateral series in SA on difficult pitches and was dropped right after. Rinku, Tilak, Parag have all performed when given a chance but can't get in coz oldies refuse to make way. There's a reason why both our T20 and Test teams improved after the two has beens retired from those formats, and our ODI team looks old, tired and jaded thanks to the same old two present there. Our other format teams improved instantaneously when they weren't burdened by the non-performing oldies. Same will happen in ODIs but these oldies won't leave thanks to fanboys like you. ravishingravi Posted October 24 Posted October 24 First ko then Ro. No case for dropping both together.

ShoonyaSifar Posted October 24 Posted October 24 Poor series overall as expected. Rohit as captain would have fjred any player who played so selfishly in both the matches. Goes against his own philosophy of not playing for personal milestone and going hard from ball one irrespective of the conditions. With Rohit and Kohli playing only IPL and ODIs, these situations of them struggling in early part of a series and thus hurting the team under immense pressure will remain there. Now there is a dead rubber left, why should Rohit and Kohli play in that and not Jaiswal and Jurel? Jaiswal has to definitely play to give him a feel of ODI wickets in Australia. Will be utterly selfish again on Rohit and Kohli's part to suddenly be interested in playing dead rubbers. Ultimate_Game 1

When exactly have they been not selfish and done something in the interests of the team and their own? The only time they've done something for the team is when their interests aligned with team's interests but they've always been selfish and thought about themselves and never the team.

Rohit’s entire approach in recent years has been non selfish aggressive cricket that has won us many matches Ultimate_Game 1
