Wonder if being outsiders in Mumbai cricket harms the likes of Jaiswal and Sarfaraz (both originally from UP heartland). They aren't Marathi manoos (never seen them conversing in Marathi either), so maybe rubs Agarkar the wrong way. Even Rahane seems to have a problem with these guys (personally don't think Jaiswal lacks discipline or work ethic), and you don't see Gavaskar, Manjrekar hype up Jaiswal inspite of him carrying forth the baton of Mumbai batsmanship.

Prithvi Shaw also from Bihar, but his downfall is mostly self inflicted.

SKY has roots in UP, but was born and brought up in Mumbai (his father was a scientist at BARC), also speaks fluent Marathi.

Because of the unfortunate injury to Iyer, a spot opens up for our next 2 ODI series this season.

Please play Jaiswal. Even if at number 4, fine, he needs games under his belt and to adapt to the ODI tempo. He should play all the ODIs in lead up to 27 WC, even if he has initial teething troubles. At the end of the day, quality will shine through.

Or play Tilak/Rinku in the middle order. Basically someone deserving. I would hate for them to play Jaiswal in the middle order for a couple of ODIs and if he fails coz he hasn't played in middle order, he is scapegoated. I would rather someone like Tilak or Rinku get that spot at 4 or 5.

“They are not going anywhere” - Top BCCI official confirms Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for ICC Cricket World Cup 2027

The Indian Premier League (IPL) chairman Arun Dhumal has made a bold statement about Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli’s future in ODI cricket, stating that the duo are expected to play in ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. Ever since both batting legends announced their surprise retirement from test cricket earlier this year, fans have been concerned about whether they will be part of the next ODI World Cup, scheduled to be played in October and November 2027.

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have given their life to Indian cricket. When it comes to Team India, they will want to give it their best. And that is the true reflection of a sportsman. And my best wishes to both of them. They have done wonderful. They are not going anywhere, they are here to stay,” he said.

“The way Rohit Sharma has shown his class in this ODI series against Australia, at that age, coming as player of the match in the final match and then player of the series Award, that shows the kind of conviction that he carry, the kind of hard work that he put in, it’s truly remarkable,” he added.
