Tillu Posted October 26 Posted October 26 These kind of issues are prevalent in every country. But this cow dung festival has done irreparable damage to India's reputation everywhere. Once is not enough, they double down and celebrate this repulsive festival with even more gusto every year. South India has some of the most retarded festivals. What's the point of all this development if you are still going to live like prehistoric men.

Obviously things move quicker in high profile cases, and this one was too big to ignore.

Every single study and survey shows india as one of the, if not the, most unsafe country for women in the world. People like you who bury your head in the sand and deny reality are one of the biggest reasons why these issues will never go away. Age of consent is 15 for children with their same age group so as not to punish children who are dating among themselves. Confusing consent with sexual assault is not going to help anyone. Even India with all its ills wouldn't hold a candle to what usually happens there. But people are willing to give them a pass due to their skin colour, development and all the other optics. India with its abject poverty, squalor and backwardness needs to put a lot more efforts in improving our reputation.
Gollum Posted October 26 Posted October 26 (edited) I just hope our 2036 Olympics bid is thrown into the garbage bin citing this incident. For the Olympics (spread over more than a month, from trials to Paralympics), we will probably have attendees in millions, including tens of thousands of foreigners most of them from the developed world who will be prime targets for our anti-socials. This country can't organize/manage such a huge event without a couple of hundred molestation/rape cases blowing up. And other kinds of nonsense which uncivilized societies excel at. Heck we can't organize a cricket event in this country without torturing the fans, players, officials, mediapersons. And mind you, hardly any foreign fan turned up in 23 WC or here because of the useless BCCI messing up schedules and ticket distribution. How will we organize something 50 times bigger in scale? Gollum Posted October 26 Posted October 26 This ghastly incident happened in India, in the biggest stage of a sport which we all love, to players who we cheer and support in WPL. Why are we discussing what happens in other countries here? We can always do that in other threads. Let us not deviate from the issue or underplay the enormity of the crime, ultimately if we don't self-introspect and address our flaws, we will never get out of this mess. Already I am seeing a concerted effort by media to suppress this news. Imagine if 2 of our players had faced a similar experience in Australia, would we not be outraged? Would we stay mum? That festival has destroyed Indian culture image online... Most foreign media outlets and foreign vloggers/ content creators are non stop covering it. Trolling is insane already on Social media. No wonder India has worst PR on the planet. Idk how can Indian Government allow this or at least make sure there is no media involvement in whatever that is??? Lord and Tillu 2

I will NOT be respectful to people who constantly downplay women security issues and then spread false propaganda. Constantly endangering half of the country by spreading fake narrative and then demand respect.

The weirdest thing is suddenly now festivals and all coming into the mix. It's a co-ordinated attempt to downplay this incident and derail discussions around women safety issue in india. And so many of the good little parrots here are copy pasting those things here. All the talking points spread on social media like - it's happens everywhere, some other things damage our image more, etc, are being brought here by the unthinking bots. Gollum 1

Maybe to drown out the outrage regarding this Indore incident, ruling party is BJP, of course they have to be protected at all costs. Karnataka is ruled by Congress, let us channelize anger towards that tiny village now. Let us be honest, it is just an isolated village of a few 100 people, weird custom but they never harmed anyone, throwing dung or urine at one anotther willingly is not a crime, but sexual assault is. Even when it comes to international image or tourism, sexual crimes will be a much more important factor than some stupid festival. Anyay this is how media and SM operate in India these days, if there is a stampede in Karur or Chinnaswamy, max outrage, But in case of Kumbh stampede or bridge collapsing in Bihar/Gujarat, they will find some other issue to deflect outrage. Gollum Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Had this incident happened in Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad etc. Arnab and MSM would be shouting non-stop 24x7 and demanding CM's resignation. Lord, New guy, express bowling and 1 other 1 3
