Brute strength is more important in the women's T20 game. That's where we lack.

Only Richa Ghosh has the ability to power those big hits. Harman had that but lost it as age came calling.

Sachin at 15 as a clearly frail boy, was hitting huge sixes on bigger grounds, which most modern batsmen can't even today, with better bats.  I don't think it's only about brute strength, six hitting involves a lot of specific skills and practice.

Kohli has some of the strongest wrists in cricket but doesn't hit huge sixes generally as he is a bottom hand player who rolls his wrist. Hafeez could barely hit sixes but then he spent some time in carribbean practicing the hitting arc and then came back and was hitting huge sixes effortlessly.

Abhishek is not a very big built guy at all but the most consistent six hitter. Rohit barely uses strength in his pull shots. It's his hips and swivel.

The reason jemmimah struggles and then has to put her entire strength behind a ball is because her technique is not for hitting in the air, she plays late, has zero bat swing and then tries to force the ball. That doesn't allow sixes.

In all our coaching centers, keeping balls on the ground is still the first thing taught and what youngsters learn which becomes a habit. Sixes are only allowed while stepping out of the crease to a spinner. Dead bat and low backswing is the norm. Our six hitters are usually those who don't come from regular coaching places or are very young. Hope this is changing with IPL

If the ladies practice bat swing and technique to hit longer, they can do better with the same strength. But even if these set are too experienced to change their ways, the next generation of girls will for sure more open to and practicing hitting sixes and will do better.

Koi na. Good timing to bump this thread.

This is at least as big as 2007-08 CB series IMO. Because Aus ladies are something else in T20Is, have won 6 of the last 8 WCs in this format.

This is bigger, CB series was against a very weak Australian side in 2008.

That Aus side wasn't weak at all. Still #1. And they proved it some time later in 2009 CT. Till 2011 Motera, they had that aura at least in ODI cricket.

I am talking about bowling, they had James Hope, Bradd Hogg plus Bracken in their bowling attack.

2009 CT they had emerging Shane Watson, he scored 100s in both semis and finals vs aging Hayden and Gilchrist.

Brett Lee, Bracken were great ODI bowlers. Then Mitchell Johnson as 3rd pacer. Hogg was also part of their 2007 WC winning side.
