I think Kranti went about 10 per over today and has been very expensive in the last few matches. In any case, I think against South Africa, a spin based attack might be better than mediocre medium pace. nitinbwj 1
Sloane84 Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Also play Amanjot in every match, that girl is feisty and is always up for the fight. nitinbwj 1
AKane Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Contrast this to 2003 where after the Aussies scored 359 - thanks esp to Zaheer and Srinath - the Indian batsmen except Sehwag basically laid down...... nitinbwj 1

Back then there was no structural approach to chase big totals. India went after bowling too early. Latest one was aberration. Tendulkar once almost hunted down 340 odd against Australia. But India failed to scored 19 in last 3 overs. In a large chase on true better of a wicket that will stay true the whole game you can take your time Edited October 30 by vvvslaxman nitinbwj, rollingstoned, Vk1 and 1 other 1 3

That's because at that time nobody knows what kind of approach to take to chase a huge score like that. Now most of the top teams are very methodical while chasing such scores and this knowledge is passed onto women's teams as well. Vk1 1

Indian men have never responded well to 300+ targets 2003 F was at least against an ATG side in Wanderers, a venue which suited our opponents more.....and they had McGrath, and an aura around them. But 2015 SF on that SCG patta (closest to SC wicket), 2017 CT F at Oval, zero fight. Edited October 30 by Gollum nitinbwj 1

Our first successful 300 chase was based on amazing strike rotation by Robin singh who provided crucial support to Ganguly. There was no violent strokes outside power play. Sachin started with a good cameonof 40 plus. Then that partnership which hardly had.any ultra aggression Ajay Jadeja and Aahzaruddin had two gigantic partnerships in excess 200. One was 275. Jadeja had hit only like 6 fours in his 119. Constructed purely through singles. 50 overs is a lot of time. You still have to target thr right bowlers. Tillu and AKane 2

The first 300 score we chased I remember was during the Independence cup against Pakistan where Hrishikesh Kanitkar scored the winning runs. We chased around 314 runs and it was a wonder how they chased such a huge total at that time. rollingstoned 1
Gollum Posted October 30 Author Posted October 30 3rd ODI WC final for us, just one short of our men. Same number of WC finals by both men and women this century. Our best format is test cricket, if we have a WTC style system, we will be favorites irrespective of conditions.

Indias first ever win in pakistan came on the back of Robin singles little knock Ina chase capped off by Rajesh chauhans six against Saqlajn. Then this one.

deathmonger Posted October 30 Posted October 30 Watching the highlights and have realized a lot of the women are inked too. Nice.

This is the first time a total of 300+ has EVER been chased in a world cup knockout, including men AND women, in the entire history of cricket. You can also include Champions trophy and its true even then too. A total of 250+ has been chased ONCE in CT and world cup final in the entire history of ODIs Why is India expected to do something which no other team ever did?
