Looking at potential retirements in pipeline for Aus... India do have a shot at an Olympic gold as well in LA28.  In fact 2 Gold are up for grabs in cricket now.

@Gollum  T20 format is not our strong suit in Women's cricket though... That's the issue.

We are at our best in tests, weakest in T20s. 

 

Hope for 2 medals in LA from cricket, with one gold. Healy, Perry will stay on in T20s at least till the Olympics I think.

Litchfield is only 22.  Grace Harris is a menace in T20 leagues. Serious finisher 

 

These girls need to win this tournament to get that monkey off their back for once.  LA 28 women's medal is almost confirmed if they push it..

But if we want to move beyond Iran in Short term in medals tally we should target 2 Golds in cricket minimum.

Becoming undisputed 4th best in Asia (behind China, Japan, South Korea) by 2032 should be our goal. 

 

Atm Uzbekistan and Iran are far ahead of us, both get 3-4 gold medals and 10+ total medals. These other SE Asian and Gulf countries don't go beyond 2 golds.

Yeah Iran usually is a 4 Gold medal nation..

With Neeraj off the boil.. leaves Cricket and maybe maybe men's Hockey an outside chance for us to surpass them in LA28.

Already in Asian Games but then the sports Iran/Uzbekistan are good at, they are world class in.

A brilliant win, but winning the finals needs to be the goal.And winning finals of WC will be thee greatest win in womens cricket. The main match is the final hurdle and if we win, that would be the greatest win for India in womens white ball cricket. Hope there is no complacency.

This was bigger than beating Aussies in 03/07 WC or WI in 79/83, that too a home SF. This Aussies team will go down in history as one of the greatest ever in any sport. Of course emotions will run high.

If you watch podcasts/videos from across the world. They all say something permanently changed in women's cricket that night, that this will be the pivotal moment in the sport. Agree that tomorrow's final needs full focus, but sometimes the magnitiude of an achievement is so legendary that everything else takes backseat. 

 

Because of that result, I foresee a future, not so distant, where cricket will be the numero uno professional team sport for women, and WPL matching WNBA in stature.
