Australian women's ODI rating points is 163 !!!!!!

In men's ODI, right now we are top ranked at 121 points. Highest ever rating points in men's history is WI 141 (1986), Aus 140 (2004).

Just goes on to show how dominant the Aussie women have been, in terms of dominance over peers, even the legendary WI and Aus teams don't come close.

Similar story in T2OIs where Aussie women are at 299 points, we are 272 at present.

Mandira Bedi did good but I’m seeing this story everywhere and now this is increasingly looking like a managed story.

It happened in 2003-2095 for *s sake, it wasn’t a lifetime commitment and I’m sure there were many others who helped.

Indian fielding was refreshing. I was always used to seeing some crappy fielding. But they stepped up big time in the fielding. Direct hit by AManjot was superb. Then that juggling catch.

2003-5 wasn't too long ago. In the same 2003, the men's team was showered with hefty gifts amounting to a crore or so each for making it to the final. Parthiv Patel became a crore pati without playing a single game all tournament. Just being part of the squad was enough.

Whereas in 2005, WC finalist women's team was apparently paid mere thousands as per Mithali Raj. Despite the argument that men's cricket attracts way more viewers and thus revenue, the severe underfunding for the ladies is jarring to say the least. It was very nice of Mandira to gift her earnings for supporting the women's team. I wish some corporate sponsor had stepped up and reimbursed her!

Better than nothing. Nobody paid remote attention to women cricket back then. You would see that news in some corner. I think you read the story everywhere because we live in social media era. One guy picks up and share it and another one picks up and share it. It goes on and on. It gives an illusion it is staged. WHy would she wait for 22 years to share this? Ian bishop shared AManjot's story on his feed. It has gone viral now.

Nah.

She did much better than most who are jumping on the bandwagon now. Supported the team at their lowest.

She was never among the highest earners in Bollywood. Not was she the one earning the most from her commentary duties etc.

Still used her profile to help nurture women's cricket.

Also , it's been others who've shed light on her positive involvement with the league. She personally hasn't spoken a word on this

And she wasn't even a Bollywood actress. She was a tv soap serial actress.

She was hosting cricket matches. One of the earliest woman presenter if i am right.

Would still not have been earning as much money as bhogle/shastri/gavaskar.

And had to face sexist statements like mandira body etc

When someone helps you out in your darkest time, in times of distress, no matter how small the help, you remember it your entire life.

Even today our hockey players are so grateful to Naveen Pattnaik because he believed in them when they were at their lowest, non-qualification in Beijing, last place finish in London, in between humiliation in '10 WC, even '14 WC was a disaster. He built a home for Indian hockey in Kalinga sports complex (another world class facility in Rourkela now), sponsored the team and players, successfully bid back to back WCs there. Even when we won Tokyo/Paris bronze, Odisha govt was the only one which awarded cash prizes to all players and staff, other govts rewarded only their state people.

And hockey got help from the government, here Mandira Bedi did it on her own, khud ke paise lagaye. That she has never boasted or spoken about it till now (even 2017 WC and '20 WT20 final appearances, 22 CWG silver were great feats) shows her character and how selfless her gestures were back in the day. She should be celebrated, honoured by all cricket fans, if it were up to me I would want people like her to be bestowed with Padma awards or something similar. If a TV actress could do all that, you have A-list celebs, business tycoons who talk big, use sporting success for their advancement or PR, but what is stopping them from adopting a struggling sports team/federation in this country?

Mandira Bedi is a queen just like the ladies who created history in DY Patil.

Keep all finals away from the stadium named after you

Don't attend any final because you are panauti #1

More such meets will happen Modiji

Na he met the losing finalists in 23 right in their dressing room
