Optics for '24 general election. The whole WC wasn't celebration of the sport but an expensive election campaign for Modi and co. Ultimately, when your neeyat isn't right, good things don't happen.

Only one Indian in WBBL, Jemima for Brisbane Heat.

Surprised to see no takers for Mandhana, Deepti, Richa, Harmanpreet.

Some dozen English girls are there.

I just learnt Amanjot was a skater and hockey player before a cricketer. NO wonder she was pretty sharp. Jemima is a hockey player too.

RSA opener Tazmin Brits was an ace javelin thrower who was expected to medal in 2012 London Olympics. Then involved in a car accident which ended her javelin career. She picked up cricket after that in her mid 20s.

There was another RSA cricketer named Sunette Viljoen who won silver in Rio Olympics javelin.

Many of the SENA players especially are multi sport athletes. Hockey is a common sport, maybe helps with fielding, our best fielders Jemimah, Amanjot, Harleen all have hockey background as well. Even Jonty Rhodes was a reserve for RSA hockey team in 1992 games.

WBBL organizers must be kicking themselves now.

I wouldn't be surprised if Harman, Smriti, RIcha, Deepti and other decide not to enroll for future WBBL drafts either. Will be a right call. WBBL needs them more than them needing WBBL. Our players can be in WPL and Hundred. Maybe go to the SA T20 league when they launch women's tournament.

Well to be fair to them, our T20 exploits in recent past weren't that good. Test is our best format, then ODIs, we don't have ace T20 players except maybe Richa and Harmanpreet. Things will change courtesy WPL, and we will improve.

Brute strength is more important in the women's T20 game. That's where we lack.

Only Richa Ghosh has the ability to power those big hits. Harman had that but lost it as age came calling.

Figured out the reason. A lot of our players have withdrawn at the last minute to manage their workload. Naturally that leads to loss of credibility with franchises.

2026 WPL will be held in Jan-Feb.

Then a full tour to Aus (3 ODIs, 3 T20Is, 1 test) followed by full tour to Eng as well as T20 WC.
