Is this something similar? Similar except that the payment is done via a mobile phone app (Google Pay / PhonePe). Involves just scanning a QR code and paying through the app. Makes it much easier. What if one doesn't have a NRO/NRE account- i am guessing options is only cash or Debit card ( whoever accepts it?) If not any UPI , cash works everywhere. For larger amounts debit cards work in most places , but not in small places or amounts. It’s hard to get back change if cash is used for Uber, Ola or Auto. They don’t accept debit or credit cards. Try giving a 500 rs note to a 40 rs auto fare. If you open a bundle of cash, they will immediately recognize that you are an NRI as most locals will use phones to pay. Most merchants discourage debit or credit cards as they don’t like paying some charging fee to banks per transaction . Usually they pass that fee to the xonsumer Edited November 4 by coffee_rules

It’s just that you need to deposit in $s or £s into NRE account and withdraw or pay through UPI in ₹s. You can’t deposit ₹s into NRO account. You can deposit ₹s into NRO account Lord 1

Next, Choose a global bank like ICICI, HDFC, Axis, SBI etc and open a NRE Rupee checking account - Teanfer Canadian $s from your Canadian bank account to your new NRE Rupee checking account. Amount will be seen in ₹s as per that day’s conversion rate - link your phone no to your NRE Rupee checking account - Install the Bank’s App like IIICI or SBI provides and link the UPi to your NzrE account and make UPI payments Zero_Unit 1

I have not chosen wallet option. You can link to the bank and direct funds from the bank directly each time

Not anymore man. Its one of the most expensive city in north america (and the world) to live in. Their transportation system is also not that good. Also, crime rate has gone off the roof too. I used to love going to toronto before, not a fan going there now. If you can speak french, Montreal is possibly one of the best city in Canada to live at - for now.
