Sachin was an excellent reader of the game. Though he mostly played under other captains, his tactical inputs have always been acknowledged. 

 

Miandad also had that street smartness, Imran was more of an inspirational taskmaster captain.

But my question is why didn't we have a red soil wicket on Nov 19? Why not have something which minimizes impact of dew? The SF against NZ was on a typical Wankhede red soil pitch. 

 

LIstened to her podcast many times. She is a very neutral person. Never gets over joyed or depressed. Fairly neutral. She didn't exactly earn Indian fans  when she shared that "SALTY" picture. Then she had to clarify.

This is where i was disappointed with Rohit in 2023 final.  Thankfully pant did the job in 2024 final

i know you guys would be waiting to hear some of my views or i would say findings-

 

- Thakur the indian Swing bowler ( she is not exactly a pacer as she bowls at 110K) is truly very good. all her balls kind of inswing and create big issues for batsmen. having said that she is Slow , a little more speed and she would be lethal. Jhulan used to bowl 108k to 125K and her swing was less but she was dangerous due to her pace ( 120k for ladies is very fast).

- Shefali VERMA looked as the BEST BATSMEN in the finals , she scored 87 off 78 balls. she was not in the team and was played in after the main opener was unfit.  She out batted all other women players including Smruti mandana . Good that the COACH Amul mazumdaar picked her later but SHOCKED to notice that the best batswomen would have not played the world cup , had the opener not got hurt.

- Deepti and Sree ( left arm spinner similiar to Axar) are 2 Spinner who literally won us the FINALS and probably many matches. SRee got 1 or 2 wickets only but she did not gave runs and was beating the batsmen regularly and thats how harmanpreet could control the match.

- Harmanpreet seemed to be very innovative in field settings, she had kept Jemima straight nearly on the bowling crease to take a return catch and Yes , many chances were created. even the final catch which she took was at a place where normally no fielder is kept and she kind of was close and could run and reach at that place.

- few ladies were fielding very very well, i saw one fielder literally throwing herselfon a boundaryline and stopping a certain boundary..( even hardik would be proud of such fielding) ...Indian ladies ground fielding was superb ( catches fielding was OK not superb).

-jemima has a very good-solid technique but she is too small and hence her shots lack a lot of Power. shefali has Power and technique both. smirti is kind of mix more technique but a little power too. 

But over all the ladies lack a lot of POWER...there shots reach the boundary with great difficulty.

i was impressed by Deepti, Sri among Spinners. Kranti the pacer was AVERAGE and Thakur was impressive in swing and creating an angle, few catches were missed of her bowling.

-Harman has become a Solid Captain, we won the final because she controlled the Match and rotated the bowlers very well.

People like Srini and some of the ICFers have eggs on their faces, they hated the idea of WPL, equal match fees, heck even in finals thread they kept badmouthing women's cricket But ultimately the numbers speak, and look at the reception our players are getting in their cities/towns as they return. 

 

And IMO, the SF we played against Aus was the greatest white ball match in Indian cricket history. Had that been the final, i am sure all viewership records would have been broken, much more entertaining than any of our games in 23 WC, 24 T20 WC, 25 CT. Our comeback in Barbados final was legendary, but it was only a 4-5 overs passage of play, here the women entertained us for 48+ overs against a seemingly invincible opponent.

This is going to completely turn around women cricket in our country. Hope they get as popular as our pampered men cricketers. People forget that cricket was not that popular in our country till our world cup win and only middle class radio people listened to it or followed scores on newspapers.

 

Also, those ICFers you are talking about,  are genuinely bigoted and are against any kind of equality in all walks of life. Race, gender, caste, language, religion, they are against equality in everything. 

 

At least they are consistent with their bigotry.

Wish our players/celebs are able to come out, like Dutee Chand. Many of the SENA players are openly bi/lesbian. But here we have our cricketers having to hide these things for fear of being judged, backlash or loss of endorsements. Diana Edulji, Mithali, Jhulan, so many icons from the past, and present ones, all deserve happiness and peace of mind.

 

India historically was always accepting of these things, one only has to look at sculptures in Khajuraho and many ancient temples. Discrimination against homosexuality is a British legacy, which we haven't been able to shed yet.

Watched both the games (SF and F) in the stadium. Terrific experience. As good as any other game I have watched.

If it's true... then it is their life, their choice, and we should respect their privacy.

 

In fact, I respect HK even more for having the confidence to pose with her best friend and the world cup trophy.  She would have anticipated some of the social media scrutiny, especially if Nupur is a PR professional. She achieved a huge milestone for the country. She must share such achievement and trophy with whoever is close to her.
