EnterTheVoid Posted November 22, 2025 Author Posted November 22, 2025 An F-16 crashed in Poland during a rehearsal for an air show. Does this means that the F-16 is no good? Will countries start grounding their F - 16 fleet? I don't think so. The Tejas is a very capable aircraft. The IAF may have to do some PR damage control but doubts on the Tejas combat capability are very misguided.

Tejas is 40 years on the making with a poor output. If you believe media reports they are struggling to integrate uttam aesa radar on it and have fallen back on imported israeli radar which is extremely poor outcome. Tejas will always be judged conservatively as will other indian tech untill they are battle proven. The skimish with pakistan , the world took note of the drdo missile program. I think there is concensus that india has a very mature conventional and nuclear missile program.

The Tejas will get combat experience as it's numbers start getting inaugurated. It's almost a given. The Tejas is indigenously developed, that's a big deal. Not many countries have indigenous fighter jet capability.
zen Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 May the pilot rest in peace. I don’t care for the childish discussions online (where, in general, people comment as if they are experts without being one) where the crash is equated to the quality of the plane, some sabotage theory is propagated, what-aboutism is advanced, etc. It is an unfortunate event. A pilot lost his life. The plane will be evaluated based on multiple hours of endurance in the field over the years. Too early to pass it off as a game changer or a flop.

You need to look at the ratio if crashes to total manufacturered. Indian army has 40 jets tejas jets which are effectively kept in reserve in bases in the south of the country.

ravishingravi Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 No evidence. But I do suspect a sabotage angle cannot be ruled out.
BacktoCricaddict Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 This is really sad. Air shows are inherently dangerous. RIP to the pilot ;-((
Lord Posted November 22, 2025 Posted November 22, 2025 Condolences to his family. Has a young daughter I heard :( Noob opinion but never got the point of these air shows. Apart from such risks, they are also very expensive.
bsriharsha Posted November 23, 2025 Posted November 23, 2025 Airshow crashes do happen. .. Rip and commiserations to the family. Hope the root cause is identified quickly. I don't want to speculate but it seems like the pilot was being too over ambitious at too low an altitude. The G forces might have forced him into unconsciousness. High time there's some computer aided correction happening even in fighter jets.
EnterTheVoid Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 Heartbreaking. Her grief must be unimaginable. Lord 1
