And New bowlers haven’t been developed thanks to our moronic short sighted selections. You can’t really bring a fundamental change if you have mediocrity low ceiling players to begin with. No amount of training will help u if that ceiling itself is low. Bumrah and Siraj both are in their prime. Can't compare 206 cm tall South African bowler to 178 cm indian bowlers. Bounce from Jansen is much steeper. Edited November 24, 2025 by rkt.india

Siraj is way too up n down and has some major temperament issues. Only bowls well when he’s the leader. express bowling 1

Generating bounce is a fundamentally basic thing in pace bowling. Bumrah, Shami, Siraj, Harshit, Prasidh, Gurnoor all are capable of doing it and none of their ceilings are low. It is just poor tactics and mindset. Shami - He’s done. He’s past. He’s Never coming back. His major strength was his seam position. Siraj - Massive temperament issues. He never really had bounce as his weapon. Off course he can bowl bouncers but not someone who’s know for his bounce. Thats fine. Bigger problem is his inconsistency. Bowler brilliantly last match in England and now nowhere close. Bumrah - his peak was 2018-19 Australia. There were spells he was consistently in the 145-150. He’s still good but he’s not gonna get back to that level. Just look at the way he bowled in the LOIs recently. But he’s definitely still world class. Harshit / Prasidh (mainly Prasidh) - yeah they can get some bounce. But they need to bowl with intensity. Prasidh was next level in the ipl and then as soon as it got over, back down a couple of levels. If he can bowl the way he did in the recent ipl, then sure he can exploit it. See things like bowling with intensity in internationals, you cannot teach it. It has to come internally. Are these 12 year olds?? putrevus 1

Speed alone is not enough, you need bounce or movement.Other than speed Wood has very little to offer and it shows in his career.
Lord Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Could have played Prasidh instead to use that strategy. Siraj doesnt offer much except jazba junoon express bowling 1
maniac Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Jansen is a special cricketer. A potential ATG. Sorry to disappoint folks but Bumrah, Siraj as bowlers might be ahead of Jansen but as a bowler alone he is way better than Harshit Rana, Prasidh, Akashdeep etc leave alone our bench strength. We don’t have a cricketer of that quality. i mean we play a limited player like Dube (who has done well in his role) for hitting ability, Jansen has 5 times more ability. there isn’t anyone on our horizon even in the same ball park. to put it in context- a left armer who can touch 150 + super athletic fielder + a beastly hitter. Don’t think we have any Lord and BacktoCricaddict 1 1

Just look at the demography of their South African bowling strength. Pacers or usuallly black or white. Spinners are mostly Indian origin bowlers. Same with New zealand. Fast bowlers are whites. spinners Ajaz patel, Rachin Ravindra, Jeetan patel, Deepak patel etc. Same with England/Australia. Have you seen any pace bowler from Indian origin representing these countries? Even padosis had guys like sajad mahmood. Edited November 24, 2025 by vvvslaxman

Gollum Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 How can you fold in front of bounce on such a slow track?

They have completely forgotten the art of grinding it out or tiring opposition bowlers ,just go back to Dravid ,Ganguly(fab 5) era they rarely played extravagant shots or plonked their front foot like robot, used to use depth of crease, wrists, sweeps(rare even in those days) These guys are confused, too much T20 effect, those who don't play are irresponsible, they aren't skilled to hold+spinners are bad with reggresing pace bowling which once was our prime weapon express bowling 1
singhvivek141 Posted November 25, 2025 Posted November 25, 2025 Bounce is now a lost skill, Indian pacers are relying more on seam movement and movement in the air to do the stuff. While those are great skills for SENA countries, at times bounce too comes handy in Indian subcontinent when the pitches often become unresponsive for any sideways movement and the only help is vertical movement. As some have said, we don't have a 6.9 pacer, but we do have some 6.3-6.4 tall pacers, and they too can utilize the bounce effectively. Bumrah and Siraj to a large extent aren't bowling bouncers effectively coz they rely more on their ability to move the ball or bowl yorkers. Bumrah uses it as a last resort and by then it becomes too late to do anything. That's where a 3rd pacer who can use bouncers is needed, again, not like he should pitch every ball short of length, but must be willing to bowl one on demand. Prasidh can't do that, and Harshit hasn't seen the face of Test cricket post one bad game. Suhaan and express bowling 2
