Star culture in India will never die. Majority Indians worship stars, don't care about the craft. Saw it in the Messi episode as well, most of those lunatics would have never touched a football or attended their kid's game. These cricketer worshipping fanboys and girls who pollute SM don't care about the sport either, but those are the kinds of scum who BCCI wants to placate....bhaad mein jaye trophies and results.

I'm so close to giving up watching cricket. I loved when we brought in youngsters and transformed the T20 team. But now we're back to the star culture despite youngsters and newbies doing so well. Likes of Jaiswal, Rinku and Parag have been jettisoned out for no reason and we're back to accumulators. Take out Abhishek and Pandya from the team, and we can field the same XI in a Test match.

We may still win it because of the exceptional quality of 4-5 guys in this XI...Abhishek, Hardik, Chakri, Bumrah, Kuldeep, Arshdeep...ROTW doesn't have such individuals. Also in Tilak, Dube we have a solid, clutch support cast. But why leave it to chance? The way our squad was shaping up last year, this WC was just a formality.....now we have handicapped ourselves with the 2 dead weights in top 3. One of Gill, SKY may even help us win the trophy (no matter how small the odds) but how is it fair that they get 50 uninterrupted games while Jaiswal can't get 5, and Samson has been pushed out despite doing so well as opener?

We had the most exciting and high-ceiling T20 team on the planet (perhaps in the history of this format) 12 months back. Used to look forward to our T20 games, while not giving a damn about the test team. GG has ruined the charm of our T20 team as well, man is on a mission to kill interest in Indian national teams.

We all know why BCCI is doing that. So they can get in useless Gill and SKY. Now they can say they had no choice but to stick to SKY as Iyer was "injured" and that there was no time to try out Jaiswal as opener. They'll keep Samson in the squad but we all know he'll be there to make up the numbers so the golden boy Gill can open.

Wish Gill twists his soft neck again. We get a replacement.

Yup, I so looked forward to T20s and was hoping ODIs will get the same makeover. But here we are. We made both the teams worse by going with accumulators and passengers. Take out Abhishek and there's nothing to look forward to.

what a joke, they could not make their intentions clear.they know Gill will continue to suck but will preempt calls for his sacking with this  early announcement.this kind of politics is killing indian cricket.

He does it deliberately. He always tweaks his neck and gets "injured" when the going is tough.

Chinnaswamy 2024 1st test against NZ...46 all out match.

Perth test last year, another one in that series.

Just the instances Gill gets mysteriously injured and misses out.

More likely ppl like gavaskar/sastri/harsha would come out and say that team is selected and not point in discussing if that player or this player or that other player its better to support this team now.

When gill was seecte vc of t20i team it was clear, they thought time is good Ind and gill are coming of a good Eng series get him to T20i team and as Asia cup has some not so strong team he will score runs that will give him some breathing time and a justification to his selection

mentioned this on other thread too ::

calibrate the potential t20i score with Gill opening think 160-180 is the range. And if Ind has good day 180 +.

Here it the playing 11::

Sanju <Open>

Gill <Open>

Here sanju does not have to be over aggressive just play ball by ball as if he is playing with accumulator, this way it does not build much pressure on Gill to match up and not much pressure on Sanju as well to score for Gill's low SR which is what abhishek is forced to do now. This will be similar to how Gill plays in GT

Sky

Tilak

Pandaya

Abhishek

Rinku/Parag/Kuldeep/Dube/Nkr

Axar

Bhumrah

Varun

Arsh

this way Ind have 3 finisher pandya , abhishek,rinku/dube/rtc+Axar 7 bowling option if any1 else other than rinku plays and 8 batter if any1 other than kuldeep plays

or open with gill and sky as ind did in wc-24 with kolhi and rohit. Then load up with mo and lower mo batter

You can't make this shyte up! Great going BCCI! Well done! :wall:

Last wc I didn't think we would win with Rohit and Virat yet we did.

Rohit had this capability to strike above 250

Singlehandedly mauled Starc ,Hazal and Cummins in wt20,Gill and Sky aren't remotely close to Rohit in ball hitting not even Kohli and Gill who's hailed as Kohli rightful heir:phehe:

Gill is so bad that even a twilight Kohli is looking indispensable

These two are current freeloaders in the side ,and the irony is despite being two worst players in the squad can't be removed as they are C and VC

You are stating that as if the two options are mutually exclusive and not dependent on each other.

Australia never puts a foot wrong when it comes to ICC tourney selection. That is why they have all the trophies and maces to show. They even kept their main guns out of CT this year because of injury/fatigue reasons.

just want to point out that Aaron Finch was in a similar horrible form leading up to 2021 WT20 and Australia continued to pick him

IIRC, Finch lost his form in that WC but was playing well in the leadup.

then maybe it was 2022 WT20, but I remember aussie fans trolling fans on social media before the WT20, but he continued getting selected

Yeah, must be that. It was a disastrous tournament for Aus, despite being defending champs and hosts they couldn't make the SF.

Last WC was all Bumrah and bowlers. Bumrah's performance was the best bowling across any tourney. He was so good that his stats would be outstanding even for ODIs, forget T20!

Finch made the biggest contribution in Austrailia's Wt20 win in 2021 in "Dewbai". He won 6 of the 7 tosses in that "win the toss, win the match" tourney. The only time he lost the toss, Aus was hammered by Eng by 8 wkts and lost with 5+ overs to spare. I would pick SKY as well if he had similar luck with the coin but SKY can't even do that just like our other captains. Better to go with someone like Iyer, or at the very least kick out useless Gill. We can still manage with 1 quota player but 2 passengers in the top 4 is way too much for any team to overcome.

Whenever he's under the scanner or sees tough conditions, he magically gets "injured" and drops out. It's a consistent theme with him. And after he's "injured" and not able to play the last 2 T20s, BCCI will announce the WT20 squad and get him in
