He is not an opener and they want a wicket keeper batsman opening. So ishan is backup for Sanju in case later gets injured. Rinku comes in as a pure batsman finisher.

India has a good talent pool for Indian conditions so as long as players in form are picked, particularly in the shortest format where time to find form during a match may not be available, all is good.

Our chances have improved, but SKY remains a huge concern. He stalls the innings every time, doesn't have a fixed position, and lack of runs will definitely impact his confidence and decision making. He hasn't achieved enough to command respect from his team mates, and incase the drought continues, things will get worse.

Gill should never have been picked for T20s. Had he missed out from Aus T20I series, he may have helped us at least draw RSA at home. His workload also hasn't been managed properly in the quest to make him a 3 format star. Ultimately everybody was a loser, including Gill whose star power will take a hit after this unceremonious sacking.

Parag in place of Sundar would be better. Sundar will come off once in a while. Just not the guy for the format.

 

Axar himself is not Ideal in my view either. If he plays, he should bat no.6 or lower. But I am ok with him. Sundar another level down.

 

Glad Gill is gone..Unfair for him to play when Jaiswal doesn't get chances.

 

Not sure if going back to Kishan is great either. Kishan is never consistent. One good game here and there. 

 

But, just removing Gill changes things. We got a shot.

Where are the  fast bowlers in the team other than Bumrah. They needed to get one fast bowler with some xfactor to compliment Bumrah,  experience does not matter in tournaments.

 

Indian selectors never take punt on young players.They wasted a spot on Prasidh Krishna when they should have picked Tilak Verma or Jaiswal in 2023 world cup.

Not sure why Ind is hell bent to have a specialist off-spinner in the white-ball specially in t20is, no other teams does that.

 

Think once they thought thought they are going to open with Sanju there was no point in keeping gill in 15, hence he was dropped and another back-up opener was needed, so they got kishan who can be back-up keeper and back-up opener.

 

Do not think Kishan is intnl quality also even if he has scored runs in smat he has resolved his original batting issues, still a fully leg-side batter.

 

Rinku comes in the side again he is not a finisher and team understands this fans and viewers may look it that way but look at how team used him , he use to come in the mo when there was a mini collapse, his role was to go there take some time and score at some decent sr keep the score board running and re-establish the platform for other hitters/batters. He as not selected when gill was there because gill was dedicated anchor/accumulator, and rinku was not needed.

 

His sr at #7 is 117:: its a small sample size, sr at #4 is 200+, #5 is 165 and #6 is 158.

 

There are issues with 15 , but there are not many issues in 11 so it okay

We don't have any x factor young quick. Arshdeep is the best we got, with Hardik as 3rd pacer.

Arshdeep did deliver in last WC. He has a good T20I WC record. How many better pacers can you name from other countries?

Anyway can't do much anymore. Got to back these boys. Hope SKY, Washi, Rana, Ishan prove most of us wrong and we become the 1st team to defend a T20 WC. If SKY performs in a couple of group games, captains and fields well, I will take that. 

 

Enough quality in our squad to bulldoze the rest of the field. Bas thora luck chahiye.
