Franco german collab has collapsed for gen 6 planes Su57 is in doldrums, Russia is dependent on HAL for lifting up their production capabilty. Without twin pilot seating, IAF isn't gonna buy Su57, it's a no deal for them. Russia has promised that they'll make Su57 twin pilot version but not sure by when. If France-German partnership breaks down from FCAS, I would say that will be a great opportunity for us to step in on a large share of work.. Mig 41 is another option we have, but that will again require a leap of faith from us.

But question remains, their workbook is pretty loaded and they've a huge backlog. Where they'll find facilities and resources to build Su57 ? Tejas mk1a is entirely pending, Tejas mk2 is nowhere started, Su30MKI additional airframes are pending, helicopters (LCH, ALC, Dhruv etc), dornier airplanes all are awaiting their delivery. TASL is working on C295, can they take up some work off HAL like Dornier 228 ? Though if I understand they're also ahead in race to prepare fuselage for Rafales (if orders for 114 goes through), plus they're also in coordination with Lockheed Martin for the MTA proposal for C130J, and there are rumors that it might partner Airbus 400M as well. Mahindra Aerospace is also in coordination with C390 Embrayer, Airbus H130 helicopter, and some minor maintenance works for SAAB Gripen. Airforce hasnt moved an inch. Its been close to one year post Op Sindoor, and except for buying 30 odd Meteors, nothing has moved. On top of it we lost 2 Tejas and 1 Su30MkI as well. No idea where we are with astra mk1 and mk2 deliveries. I think there have been lots of movements on air defence + drones and transport aircraft. But fighter jets + awacs seems no end to closing gaps. India needs to buy 4 to 5 awacs second hand to plug the gap before netra mk2 in 2030 singhvivek141 1
