China don't have the appetite to fight, Russia does, but they've their own problems to deal with. Plus, they can survive without any 3rd party dependency. At this moment, it looks like a gain for Pooks and loss for India. But, the same story happened in Afghanistan as well, so I won't be surprised if we see a similar story here. Iran, without a supreme commander may become fragmented under control of many groups and militias.
mishra Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Quote M: Riots Israel’s plot to lay groundwork for US aggression; Iran now in full control Thursday, 15 January 2026 3:44 AM [ Last Update: Thursday, 15 January 2026 7:45 AM ] Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi attributes recent foreign-backed riots in Iran to an Israeli plot aimed at escalating the situation and prompting fresh American aggression against the Islamic Republic. The top diplomat made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Fox News' Special Report with Brett Baier on Wednesday. In response to extreme claims of high death toll in Iran, as propagated by American and Israeli media outlets among others, Araghchi firmly stated that the number of fatalities was, in fact, in the hundreds. He explained that the violence was not a result of economic protests, but of external terrorist elements that infiltrated the demonstrations. These elements, he added, were responsible for escalating the situation by carrying out attacks against Iranian security forces and civilians. “These terrorist cells entered the protests, using Daesh-style terrorist operations. They shot at police officers, burned them alive, beheaded them, and targeted civilians,” he stated. “For three days, we were not fighting protesters. We were fighting terrorists.” The official went on to assert that these rogue actors were deliberately trying to intensify the violence in order to provoke US military aggression. The aim, he noted, was to increase the number of casualties to try to justify foreign involvement in the unrest. "They wanted to increase the number of deaths. Why? Because [US] President Trump had previously stated that if there were killings, he would intervene. Their goal was to drag the United States into this conflict,” Araghchi said. "This was a deliberate Israeli plot. They sought to create more deaths by targeting ordinary people and police officers." FM stresses Iranians’ resolve to defend ntl. sovereignty, security in face of foreign-backed interference He, meanwhile, reminded that the Islamic Republic was now in full control of the security situation in the country, referring to the outcome of security forces’ successful confrontation against the riotous elements. Araghchi expressed hope that wisdom would prevail and prevent fresh escalation. "Let’s hope we don’t see a high level of tension, which could be disastrous for everyone." The comments came within the context of Iranian officials’ repeated assertions that the country exerts due endeavor to address the nation’s economic problems, but stands firmly, at the same time, in the face of any effort at derailing protests towards unrest. Seems its over. It will be stupid of US to go in now when they have less Firepower than they had few months back during 12 day war and Protests have failed.

This is exports + remittances and service exports our trade deals with iran are $2 to $3 billion. Its simply not worth it. Tomorrow the regime falls and basically the new people in might still not honour this deal under the west. I think this is the sanest move where we have told Iran look you are not held up because of us. ravishingravi 1
G_B_ Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Ok it seems this plan was put in place way ahead of time... https://infra.economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/ports-shipping/indias-strategic-withdrawal-from-chabahar-port-as-us-sanctions-loom/126541523 Smart.. very smart.

We have chosen US. Trade deal might be closer than one can imagine. Trump's pressure tactics were always going to work as we lack any sorta leverage over US. Opting out of BRICS naval exercise in South Africa also indicates this. Edited January 16 by Lone Wolf ravishingravi and G_B_ 1 1

We have grovelled in front of them for Chahar port before. Iranians comes to us with our 500 years history when they need us. Then they throw us off on other days. Don't think we have chosen a side entirely apart from the fact that there is nothing to gain here. Regime will fall. Today or 6 months later. 7-8% growth. Brazen through the rest. It's going to be messy. Especially Iran. Can't imagine how bad things can get there given the geography. G_B_ 1
G_B_ Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Whichever regime, the port makes sense. You cant just rely on bandar abbass. Its a choke point. Its already third biggest port in iran. The truth is mullah backed regime was a money pit... ravishingravi 1

"With us or against us type arrangement with US" This retreat is all the more striking given that in May 2024, India and Iran formally signed a 10-year agreement granting India the right to develop, equip and operate the Shahid Beheshti terminal at Chabahar. The contract, concluded between Indian Ports Global Ltd (IPGL) and Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization (PMO), replaced earlier short-term arrangements and appeared to lock in India’s long-term strategic and commercial stake in the port. It provided India operational control over the general cargo and container terminal for a decade, with an option for renewal US simply has way too much leverage on us. Sad reality. They had to bend to their will

Exactly port connectivity is/was a critical geopolitical footprint India has through to Central Asia/Russia. With INSTC virtually over and out at this point... Reckon there is little interest India have left in Iran. Trump will ensure before his tenure is over Regime falls in Iran ravishingravi 1

With Turkey Saudi Pak allaince, Effectively Mullah of Middle East are decalaring Pakistan as their outpost next to India. Hence its a no brainer whim to choose between Iran and Israel. If US succeeds in bringing down current regime of Iran, the borders of Iran will be redrawn. We have very little say in US policy to bring down Iranian regime. ravishingravi and singhvivek141 2
