That spell is overhyped by padosis. Wahab only troubled Watson...Smith was belting all of them for fun. Aussies chased it down in 33 overs, very one-sided.

I didn't enjoy that WC much, Aus just far too dominant. Ind, NZ never looked like touching them in SF, F. Wish RSA had won their SF, they were the only side that could have troubled Aussies in MCG.

Yes Smith was in ominous form, they guy scored in QF,SF and finals, they would have won anyway with Maxi and Johnson,Starc to come.

Ashok Sharma should replace him.  Already playing for India A.  In superb form.

He won't play but won't mind give him a debut vs Namibia or something.

Can he bat

No chance. RSA would've been bullied by the Aussies. RSA would not have even beaten India let alone the Aussies in that World Cup.

Yeah, it was RSA pre Bavuma, they wouldn't have won anything.

RSA usually gives Aus a tougher time in ODIs. At least, they are one team that forces Aussies to bring their A game.

If not for rain, ABDV would have ensured a win in SF. And they had the personnel to take on Aus.

Maxwell was to come.. Smith was batting well but imo game could have gone a lot closer.  Maxwell against raw pace has always been a suspect.

Pooks looked deflated post that dropped catch.  Watson was such a crucial cog for Aussies in 2015.

213 is no score to knock out Aussies in an ICC KO, that too in Aus. They batted very deep that tournament, with Starc at number 10. Pooks were a 100 short, at least.

Harshit was backup pacer in the squad.  Need an out and out pacer in case someone gets injured

Bumrah Arshdeep and Hardik were three Pacers anyways

Smith was dismissed sooner after that, won't have lasted a genuine spell in case Watto fell at score 83.

Haddin Johnson Starc wasn't an earth shattering lower order.

130-140/5.. I'd have given it a 50-50 shot.

Faulkner was the only clutch lower order player at the back end.

Smith was in unreal form that time dude....by the time he got out, match was finished. I remember that passage of play, Smith was playing Wahab as if he were some schoolboy. In fact whole of 2014-15 Aussie summer, Smith was Bradman reincarnate. Tri-series ho ya WC QF, SF, F, he plundered runs in ODIs, not just tests.

Pooks are born losers who have passed SF stage once in this century. So they hype up these mini-contests or play down Sachin's Mohali 85, Taylor's 2011 onslaught etc. to make themselves feel better.

So we will dicuss non-India round 1 matches here?

Except the big ones, like NZ-Afg on Sunday. Uske liye separate thread?

Yeah I know that but I thought nobody really tested that lower Middle order of Australia.  In only game they got exposed (Auckland vs NZ) they were average.

Ofc the top order and middle order led by Smith was top draw.  They were the team to beat in that WC.

Pooks are delusional and ret@rded beyond repair that's well established but in 2015 WC they had caught an upswing post that win vs SA.. as soon as Younis got dropped for Sarfraz.

It's their bad luck they ran into a red hot invincible Australia.   No team was prepared to beat them at their home turf in 2015 end of the day.

Tempted to start SL v Aus game thread.  My second fav side is SL.  Rooting for them, looks like they have threatened to boycott Pak cricket if they refused to play India in RPS.. citing financial loss to their tourism industry.

Very distressing fact that even in their so-so era (post 2013), Aussies have won as many ODI WCs as we have in our entire history.

CT, T20 WC sab theek hai, but ODI WC charm hits different. That is why these routine get-togethers of '83 and 2011 players.

The way things are going, 27 will also be a missed opportunity. And drought will extend to 20 years the next time we host the big event.

Welcome to see this kalesh between SL board and PCB.

Ingratitude runs in the veins of Pooks. Recently SL board prioritized their bonhomie with PCB over players' safety and sacked so many players including Asalanka, because players rebelled and wanted to abandon the tour (Islamabad bomb blast).

Apparently Naqvi in ACC using his power also snatched few key posts from SLC and gave it to UAE and BD representatives.

BCCI should ensure that India tours SL often as BD won't be playing cricket with us anytime soon.

Already it is pathetic that India is playing tests in SL after 9 friggin years.  They should be playing us in every cycle from now onwards.

Agree, disgraceful stuff by BCCI. 2015 tour to Lanka is one of my all-time favorite series, and our journey to #1 spot began there. Pity we have toured there just one more time in all this time, that too 8 years back.

Our players also missed so many statpadding opportunities because of not playing weaker sides. Kohli, Pujara, Rahane, Ashwin, Jaddu, Shami played disproportionately high number of games vs SENA. And same is happening with Pant, Bumrah, Jaiswal, Gill. Every now and then our players should get some easy assignments. @Trichromatic made the same point in one of his threads.
