@Lone Wolf Just now searched ki 2025 bomb blast kahaan hua tha (Islamabad or Lahore), and saw news of a bomb blast today in Islamabad. Shia mosque, fast rising death toll.

As they say any good Pakistani is a dead Pakistani... They still mock us for Pahalgam and that country deserves only death and destruction.

RSA usually gives Aus a tougher time in ODIs. At least, they are one team that forces Aussies to bring their A game.

If not for rain, ABDV would have ensured a win in SF. And they had the personnel to take on Aus.

That is true only for bilaterals where OZ are under strength and have a couple of key players missing.

Australia also belted them in a bilateral series just before the World Cup.

I disagree with that bit. Nobody had the personnel to take OZ on.

Australia only had 1 real liability in Xavier Doherty.

South Africa had the likes of Wayne Parnell, Aaron Phangisi, Behardien, Duminy, Rilee, Vernon, Kyle Abbott.

None of them were exceptional ODI cricketers.

Yeah, it was RSA pre Bavuma, they wouldn't have won anything.

Yeah, totally. Because RSA with Bavuma are winning white ball tournaments left, right and centre

Rilee, Vernon Kyle Abbott were good Talented individuals.

Abbott used to crank it upto 140-144ks with a solid action.  Kolpak screwed SA there along with Rilee's peak.

They lacked someone like Maharaj in that set up.  MCG in 2013-2017 phase was a spin friendly surface in Australia.. before getting revamped into 2018.. after that dull Ashes draw in 2017.

Aus overwhelming favorites no doubt.

But you are underselling RSA here. Out of all remaining teams that edition, only they had some shot at making Aus sweat.

They got bullied by India and were the only major team to lose to a pathetic PAK side in that World Cup.

Even struggled against one of the minnows - maybe Zimbabwe ?

They were peaking at the right time but rain had other plans :agree:

Come on man, you can't argue with the quality they had.

I don't rate Amla but ABDV, Faf, Rossouw, Kock, Miller, Morkel, Steyn, Tahir, in Aus conditions? Abbott should have played ahead of Philander in the SF but quota politics had the final say, even AB was pissed.

Talented maybe but none of them were on par with the Australians in terms of output either at that stage or over their careers.

Australia had batting/hitters until #8 and a peak Starc(averages 148 kph in a match and crushing inswing )backed up by Johnson and Hazlewood.

Hope all this means they don't back off on the boycott.

Abbott averaged 31 in ODI cricket with the ball.

Every other team the Saffers produce is always decent but that OZ team had killers.

Miller was not the player he became eventually. At least not in ODI cricket.

That lower order was very sus .

This bilateral series happened in OZ just before the World Cup and South Africa were thrashed 4-1.

The only team that could've beaten OZ was us.

If we had won the toss and batted first at SCG and put on 330, we would've won it because Sydney is a bat first pitch .

But unfortunately, we lost the toss and they thrashed us also.

We'd have lost irrespective of toss. I remember we played an ODI series in Aus next year, against a depleted Aus team. Lost 1-4, they chased down some big scores against us, without breaking a sweat.
