But the number of times Kohli has single-handedly beaten them, from lost positions, in big games, no comparison. Kuldeep is good, Kohli has no equal. No wonder ordinary Pooks are so awestruck by him, doubt they respect their past legends half as much as him. 

 

You often see Pooks wearing Kohli's jersey in their home games. Then news like this one which went international. BBC, NYT, WaPo, Time were covering his craze there.

@deathmonger I was there in Pak spaces last year post CT. They had a big fight over there because couple of them were downplaying Kohli's 100. Almost all Pooks including the ladies turned against such critics to defend their abbu full on gaali galoch much to the entertainment of Indian listeners. Pooks will kill each other to get a chance to shake hands with King Kohli. 

 

It is not just his phaintas. But the aura/confidence he exudes, aggression, his lifestyle, tattoos, Bollywood wife, international stardom. So many times on SM, I have seen Pooks rush in to fight goras when Kohli is disrespected. The mental stranglehold he has over them, his place in the collective Pak psyche, there will never be an equivalent of that. They actually rate Kohli greater than Indians do.

 

Kohli is T20I GOAT with his record. I think only T20WC KO he has failed is vs England in 24. Even lost KOs like SL 14, WI 16 and Eng 22 he has 50s.

 

ODIs he is an ATG but has failed a lot in KOs but has rectified this a bit with his knocks in 23 WC and 25 CT. Has some contributions in 11 and 13 final.

 

Test he is good but he always had a bad technique. With force of will he scored truckload of runs in his prime, including away in tough bowling conditions. If India played Pak in bilaterals and India didn't go heavy on the dustbowls post 2021, he would prolly still have that 50 average. Not on the level of Sachin/Dravid/Gavaskar.

That was a good PR tactic, Kohli must have picked up these things due to his Bollywood connection. He is also admired by our libbus who spew venom even against non-problematic icons like Sachin and Vishy. Kohli has captured the following of the entire South Asian spectrum via his deft PR maneuvring.

Just wish he retired with greater test average. He is the highest rated Ind test batsman ever.

Personally I don't care that much about stats.

 

Just wish Ro-Ko, Ashwin hadn't faced the ignominy of 0-3 whitewash at home. Part of such a dominant home team for most of their career, and it ended with a whimper. Jaddu's case is a greater tragedy, ultimate MVP at home but part of 2 brutal whitewashes, and he was one of our better players in both those serries. Likes of Gill, KL, Jaiswal, Pant, Bumrah, Kuldeep, Sundar should hang their heads in shame that they couldn't salvage at least a few wins/draws in those 2 series. At their age, Pujara, Kohli, Ashwin, Jadeja, Shami, Umesh, Saha were smashing teams for fun in our backyard.
