Other 2 matches were 160 targets but extremely difficult batting conditions. That 2016 Mohali pitch was so two-paced that it is easier to chase 240 on normal tracks than what Kohli managed there. Those of us who saw that game live will talk about that innings for the rest of our lives. All things considered, that was even better than MCG 22, virtual KO match against Aussies !!!!!

That innings was amazing, people who watched cricket in the 90s were comparing his precise placement in that innings to that of Lara at his peak. Posters forget to make era adjustments when quoting Kohlis innings and str rate, a str rate of 137 for a player who started in 2010 is comparable to 145 str rate in modern times. Yeah that 2016 knock is definitely his best ever in t20s. Lord and Gollum 1 1

His two greatest T20 knocks came while chasing a target in 150s (2016 WT20 against Aus and 2022 WT20 against Pak). And how many other 150+ totals have India chased in World t20? Bigg Brother Posted February 23 Posted February 23 160 against Pakistan was the toughest at MCG. We all know how England had to huff and puff against Pakistan in final at same venue chasing 137. Gollum 1

Yeah that 2016 knock is definitely his best ever in t20s. You can only compare one with his/her peers, same with Bradman where people try to downplay him by talking about quality of bowlers. Prime Kohli surpassed his peers in WT20s by a margin which is unthinkable today. 50 avg, 135+ SR (modern equivalent will be at least 60 avg at 160 SR) and a penchant for turning up in every single big match....ABDV was never great when representing his country, and likes of Gayle, Warner never performed close to Kohli in WT20s where all teams played their best sides. Bilateral mein C/D ke against koi bhi maar sakta hai, even a joker like Babar Azam. Bigg Brother and BacktoCricaddict 2

Austin 3:!6 Posted February 23 Posted February 23 There will never be another Kohli. Dream for any present players to play knock like this
putrevus Posted February 23 Posted February 23 (edited) There will never be another Kohli and there is reason why he is the GOAT. He is one and only one who could excel in all three formats at the same time. Gill played one season in all three formats and found himself exhausted and is now out of the team. It is pity he never had any help , if he failed to be Superman the team went down. That said he had his time in t20s now hope he caps off his career with 2027 world cup.He should have done in 2023 itself. Edited February 23 by putrevus
Sean Bradley Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Virat is a once in a millenium player, respected & feared by opponents, Aussies adore him, Pakistanis worship him, Indians sadly ran towards him with a dagger, mainly at the fag end of his career. Having said this, it was Virats personal choice to retire, and we all must respect this. Let celebrate his career, but no point moaning now. Our system will produce more Sachin's & Virat's in future. Trust the process !

vvvslaxman Posted February 23 Posted February 23 India built a team for flat wickets. If the par score is about 170 to 180 current lot doesn't have to play like mental cases. They can absorb pressure, take it deep and win it. SKY is not a singles guy. TIlak is not a singles guy. Ironically Sai Sudarshan had the highest singles percentage during his 759 campaign. Iyer, Gill are the next. Iyer is the perfect guy. lot of singles, also lot of big overs. His USP is not something any of the current lot of has.

Seriously though, I think the point of all these discussions should not be whether Kohli should be on this team, but more so that the team should've understood the pitch conditions better, swallowed their egos and not played "natural game," "expressing themselves" "backing their shots" etc. untll there was some stability to the innings. Someone "like Kohli," but not Kohli himself.
