I don't know man. Wankhede always becomes a batting paradise in the 2nd innings and no score is safe. Even today dew did play a factor and everyone (including Indian and WI players) were saying that the pitch became better in the 2nd innings and dew did have some affect.

 

Spray can only help so much and can probably help in the outfield. But it can't protect against the dew falling on the pitch and quickening it up so the ball comes on to the bat. Or the ball gets wet as it's hit to the outfield or boundary. The spray can limit moisture to some extent but not negate them totally. And as I mentioned earlier, the spray definitely doesn't help protect the pitch from dew/moisture.

Agree. But thankfully this WC hasn't been reduced to a farce like the 21 edition. Teams batting first have also done well, may it continue for the remaining matches.

Dew gives toss undue advantage, perennial issue with day night matches in India. They need something like the marvel stadium where they can close the roof.

Dewbai was a travesty coz the pitch changed so much. Here the difference isn't that drastic but it does make batting a lot easier. The key is to pick up early wkts in the 2nd innings before the dew sets in.

 

That's why had we batted half-decently against SA we would've won. But we lost too many wkts for the dew to make a difference. If the team batting 2nd manages to keep wkts in hand, they'll be the favorites.

Or make knockouts a day match which starts at 2.30pm. Lt the better team wins instead of the team winning the toss getting undue advantage.

1)   3rd T20I Eden Gardens, November 21, 2021  vs NZ 

 

   3rd over  NZ was 21/0  He took out Daryl mitchell first ball,   Mark chapman last ball stumped  2 wickets in 3rd over

  after 3rd over  1-0-1-2

 

 

2)  5th T20i LauderHill,  August 07, 2022 vs WI

 

    opened the bowling and bowled 3rd over  1 over maiden wicket.  After 3rd over his spell was 2-1-2-1

 

 

These are the two today.. DOn't have the patience to sift through all as ask cricinfo is giving me misleading info Even over no.4

Most of the former players are just phoning it in and stealing a paycheck. With the right communication savvy and some media training you'd find many nerd fans who can bring much more insight than them. And not necessarily because they lack capability, Sunny's analysis with foreign channels is quite good or when he gets angry  which is when he dispenses the most amount of insight and wisdom.

BCCI prefers people who they can control. Ashwin will always be a freelancer I think. 

 

He manages to piss people off, CSK fans (most of the time), Indian fans, fan armies of 'star' players.....doesn't seem to affect him. In many ways he is just like most of the ICFers, unfiltered.
