There's a time to back someone and a time to make change. It's a 2 game tournament for us and Abhishek's confidence is shot. He can't even put away half-trackers anymore. Both against Pak and today against WI he got out to deliveries that should've been hammered by any decent batter for a 6, and he got out both the times.

Plus his fielding and catching is worse than anything we've ever seen. He's a huge liability at the moment and has even started eating ball at the top of the order. A 10 ball 10 is what likes of Rizwan and Babar score at the top.

But Rinku himself is in poor form and is not mentally there. How will bringing him in solve the problem?

He can come in as a sub for fielding

Not as poor as Abhishek. He needs to come in for Abhishek. Abhishek can't put away half-trackers and dropping sitters. Rinku's much better than that.

Abhishek is an opener.  Rinku is a finisher.   So, the latter won't be replacing the former (batting position wise).   Making Samson-Kishan open & Rinku at no. 6 or 7 is a no brainer.  (As things stand right now)

Given that he has gotten out to spinners a lot India should try to send Axar to open lol

The problem with that SKY will have bat at 3 , he is already stinking at 4

Rinku'll not be taking the same batting spot. Samson and Ishan open with Tilak at 3 and rest of the batting order as it was today. Rinku'll slot in at 6 or 7.

Last time when India played England at Wankhede. If he pulls off this all his failures will be forgiven.

That was a different time. He didn't hit a half-tracker down a fielder's throat the time and deposited such delivers into the stands.

No. Abhishek is a game changer if he comes good. Just need a few overs of fearless hitting to take the game away in the knockouts, so Abhishek can bring more to the table than Rinku. We have enough lower order firepower with Dube and Pandya.

If anything, have Ishan open and move Abhishek to 3.

At that time spinners were not operating first few overs. This is where INdia has to get smart to get the best out of him. Archer must bowl 4 overs anyway. His slower balls are crap balls. Today Sanju did a very smart hting of taking down hosein. They were almost going to stop using spinners before Abhishek committed harakiri.

No-

There is only 1 more batter in the 15 i.e. rinku , he will play at #6/7/8. Are there more chances of Abhishek winning the game from top order or rinku winning it from #6/7/8??

The lack of intelligence is baffling as well. Samson had already taken 17 off that over and on the last ball Abhishek gifted his wkt, though to a ball that should've been hammered into the stands. If he had seen off that delivery, it would've been pace and he could've teed off against them. But the way Abhishek's batting I doubt he would've made the most off them. Mentally he isn't there and that shows in the dropped sitters.

So far in this world cup Abhishek

33 balls 54 runs against pace  4 sixes 6 fours  SR 163.63

28 balls 26 runs against spin 1 six 2 fours  SR 92.85

This is startlingly similar to Kohli vs Spin in 2024 world cup.

55 balls 58 runs against spin Kohli.  but he lost his wicket only once.

Given that he is going to play anyway they have to strictly tell him to turn over strike against spin. He still has a massive value against pace.

But he has to hit half-trackers though. How can any half-decent batter not be able to hit a half-tracker from a spinner? That's the easiest delivery to hit and he has gotten out twice trying to do so. He can't even hit a left arm spinners as a left handed bat.

If we send Axar to open, the opponent wouldn't open their bowling with spinner.  Opponents are equally smart.

Apparently he's a tulla and this was a fluke

Isn't that good? lol Power play wicket is the reason why we stutter a lot. Once we start going  we can mix and match on our side disrupt the opponent plans. Axar at 8 is anyway useless

Would have a useless axar batting at #8 than being useful at #4/5/6

I mean openign with Axar if the opponent come with spinners. They will come with spin option. Axar has long levers which allows him to take down spinners on both sides.
