Sanju has to be in the team is a unanimous opinion now but the damad KL Rahul along with the 2 others who want a grand last dance are there leaving no room for him along with the Prince who has a good ODI record. He can only play as a keeper in a position which is not his strength.

Gill is the captain and permanent starter, which handicaps us badly. He is a proven dud in pressure games. I don't understand how he got captaincy, he is pampered so much.

i don't see why this side that won the cup yesterday can't form the core of the squad that contests the 50 overs in 2027. are we really saying these ipl stars can't last an extra 4 overs each? that is the next frontier. and if they crack that format you've got a better pool to select test players from. anyone can whack a six, our bats are just better at not getting out. which is exactly what 50 overs demands. of course virat and rohit will need to be accommodated !

True. But in reality, they won't discard that easily. Samson needs to be in the scheme of things for ODI right away and get in the XI whenever possible

In ODI you have to go through gears up and down at various phases. You need temperament too.  You have to pick the moment. You can score 200 in first 40 overs and score 150 in the last 10.. anyway you can go depending on situation.

Abhishek has been tried. mixed results. Also we must use Jaiswal going forward. He has that gear. Gill has to step up his ability in pressure games

Axar's outstanding performance will definitely put him above Jadjea. Axar will be more effective in ODIs than T20s as he can take time.

Going by recent bilateral ODIs, innings building is an art which doesn't come naturally to most of these youngsters. We still need proper innings builders like Kohli, iyer, maybe Rutu as well, in the scheme of things. Rohit is quite old (will be close to 41 during 27 WC), shall treat his case differently. I am of the view that Jaiswal is ready to replace Rohit. 

 

Kohli is still the best #3 in world cricket. And he proved that in recent bilaterals, he has cracked this format unlike any other batsman in cricket history.
