So they finally drop the two 14.2 cr guys and win. Shows how much they messed up at the auction when 28.4 cr is wasted.

yea. They had a winning combination all along. THey played them just because they paid them boat load of money.

You gotta question their talent evaluation and scouting. They could've played Urvil Patel in their place.

There has to be an upper limit for an upcoming and untested youngster making his debut. Majority of the youngsters will fail and only a few will make it. And even if they succeed would they really be performing at 14.2 cr level, which essentially is someone performing as a star. Picking someone for 75 lak or 1 cr or max 2 cr is understandable but picking them for 14.2 cr?! And that too doing the same for another player! That's 2 players and 28.4 cr gone on untested youngsters.

And if you're paying them so much at least play them accordingly in a prominent role. Kartik Sharma should be batting at 3 or 4, and playing Prashant Veer at 5 (or 6) and bowling him for 3-4 overs. They did neither of those things. They picked him up and played them in a marginal role sort of setting them up for failure. Look at RR and Sooryavanshi. They paid around 1 cr (1.1 or 1.2 IIRC) for him, which isn't anywhere close to what CSK paid for their players and they played him at his position straight away. They paid for a starter and played him accordingly.

Problem with CSK is not just the money they wasted and gaps in scouting & talent management but also their overall approach and plan for these youngsters. They already had Urvil Patel and picked Sarfaraz so was there really any spot for Kartik? Veer can still play a role as I think he has been absolutely mismanaged and should've been bowled more and batted at 5. But Kartik wasn't needed based on their squad when they already have Urvil Patel who can't even get a game.

Thala is handling 148 kph deliveries like nothing.  65 in 30 balls.Bharat chipli bowls at 140 kph lol Thala does a cool run out. Ranjit Fernando calls it stumping.

BCCI has unlimited money. So do the owners. What's there problem with paying more for youngsters which will only encourage more and more to take up cricket as a career?

Some of you guys behave as if the moment is being taken out of your own pocket. Oh don't pay the women more. Don't pay youngsters so much

Better money goes to players than in pocket of executives.

This is an astonishing stat

And two trophies in between. Just goes on to prove centuries (i.e high score by a single batsman) alone doesn't win games often. S/R matters more. Both these centuries were scored in quick time hence ended up on the winning side

Franchises have a ceiling they can't go beyond. If they give plenty to a couple of players they can't build depth. I've no issue in players making money and upcoming players getting life-changing money. But from CSK perspective they bungled the auction. They paid for players they don't really believe in else they would have played them in prominent spot. So why spend money on them when they could've gotten established players?

This is an indictment of CSK think-tank and not the players who were picked. The very fact the team looked better without the two highest paid youngsters shows how much CSK blundered.

CSK ahould fire Gaikwad if for krohing for losing tosses

he has like a 20% toss win rate

Any Indian player who becomes captain starts losing tosses. That's a given.
