@zen they could have called me for a main role :hide:

You can be a lead in a film where your peaceful safari trip is interrupted by wild Bonobos. They kidnap you to their hidden land.

At first you are angry but a female Bonobo takes care of you. You fall in love with her. You realize that you can train these wild Bonobos to become better beings and live in peace.

Their hidden place is under threat due to an arriving flood. You organize the Bonobos to build a dam.

The flood arrives in full vengeance. The leading lady Bonobo is trapped. You act like Tarzan to reduce her. She kisses you shyly.

The flood subsides. The sun rises. There is destruction but the dam has not only saved the community but also stored water. You think about what to do with the saved water. Maybe also build a windmill and an irrigation system?

Chaos is crowned King Chaos with the Lady Bonobo at his side. The film ends with Bonobos cheering for a better future.

Sri Rama is perfect; he is pure Sattva. No actor can play him without his grace.

To expect someone like Ranbeer Kapoor whose life has been steeped in tamas to live up to his character is stupidity.

Arun Govil had that grace in Ramanand Sagar’s original Ramayan series. None since then.

He looks good however i would have liked to see a new face

Looks more like Lord of the Rings than Ramayana. I guess they want it to appeal to an international audience as well.

Ranbir doesn’t look like Lord Rama at all. LORD Rama should project graceful calmness, astute confidence and a lionhearted warrior all in 1 person. Ranbir only has 1 expression that he has been delivering for last 17 years. The druggie spoilt son of a rich man who either breaks some college girl’s heart or suddenly realizes the love of his life is around the corner and woos her with his dance.

I would have gone for Siddharth Malhotra(although he’s a bad actor) or someone from Tv like Gautam Rode who Have a good smile. Lord Rama’s gentle and divinesmile should enchant the hearts and minds of the bhakts not make them question if he’s trying to sell them dope the way Ranbir does.

Also the music is subpar. Zimmer overdoes the cello in all his BGMs. It’s nauseating at this point. Rehman has been sub-par for the better part of 12 years now. Nothing new or innovative. I would prefer someone like MM Keervani who has made the BGM for Varanasi. You listen to both and you get a sense of who is more culturally rooted to Indic traditions.

What a huge letdown. It looks like they are  showcasing Ramayana for a global audience rather than connecting with indigenous followers . This is not Valmiki’s Ramayana, but some strange concoction made for western audience with LOTR and western CGI elements. Asuras looking like. Ogres. The teaser has a lot of AI generated visuals, I hope they are completed well in the final product.

Music is very good not matching with the visuals.

And finally, Ranbir Kapoor is totally miscast as Rama. He looks like a. Hutiya clean shaven with no feeling of.grandeur or charm associated with Rama.

The teaser looks slightly better than Adipurush, can be called Adipurush 2.0!! so disappointing for a 4000 crore production. Laanat hain!!

It's budget for two parts is 3000 crore. CGI is done by DNEG, the best company with many Oscars. TBH, ramayana story itself is nothing interesting or exciting. It should be made with simplicity.

What’s the fault? It’s not a story it is. Itihaas narrated with some exaggeration.. it is meant for setting an example for niti and, Dharma. You should read some intense work or translation to get connected to the epic, it’s not a story.

Honestly NOT looking forward to this. It may be grand but everyone knows the story by heart. They need to explored stories in Purana and Upanishads and make something else other than Ramayana and Mahabharata. Anyway its difficult to top Ramayana serial and that Japanese film.

On topic, the war scenes look really bad. As someone said more of Avengers and LOTR types. Is the giant in the first shot supposed to be Kumbhakarna? Where exactly is it set to have snow capped mountains?

Music is good. Ranbir is a poor choice.

No way it looks like a 4000 cr movie. Money laundering? :hmmm:

This is how you push your culture across the world. It's an ambitious project. I just hope it works.

Maharabharata has more juice left if you ask me. Has been a long time since story has been played on tv screens.
