If our culture is not there in the world already, no movie can help it. Besides we already had a Ramayana movie in English. Also culture is more than religion. Did you watch a Jesus movie to learn about England or American culture? The movie is mostly for domestic consumption aand NRIs

I guess they want it to appeal to an international audience as well. Ranbir doesn’t look like Lord Rama at all. LORD Rama should project graceful calmness, astute confidence and a lionhearted warrior all in 1 person. Ranbir only has 1 expression that he has been delivering for last 17 years. The druggie spoilt son of a rich man who either breaks some college girl’s heart or suddenly realizes the love of his life is around the corner and woos her with his dance. I would have gone for Siddharth Malhotra(although he’s a bad actor) or someone from Tv like Gautam Rode who Have a good smile. Lord Rama’s gentle and divinesmile should enchant the hearts and minds of the bhakts not make them question if he’s trying to sell them dope the way Ranbir does. Could not agree more. Someone like Ranbir Kapoor who has lived the life of a womanizer and druggie and has an obvious chain smokers voice will never be accepted in the role no matter how much he spends on his looks and how technology is used to influence his looks. In my opinion Mahesh Babu would have been a great choice. He has not acted in Hindi movies and have not watched any of his telegu movies but watched a few of his interviews and he has the personality and vibe to play the role. Also he has lived a relatively clean life compared to rotten junk that is Bollywood. Edited April 4 by rangeelaraja FischerTal 1

Hritik Roshan was approached first. He didn't have dates. After that, Ranbir got it.
